KaHn use easy start :)

Seriously though..

there is a video on the internet somewhere of what happens when a spud gun explodes, bits of shattered pvc or abs go everywhere, could be like a shotgun going off if you were close enough to it

EDIT : Im going to go take some photo's of my spud cannon :)

I have already thought of that, I live right next to a beach, so my combustion chamber will be covered in sand before I launch and I will be using electronic start (long wire and battery type of thing).

I think I will be using propane/methane as my propellant hence why I want to know a good fuel/air ratio, I was thinking about 5% and then compress it as an initial value.

Also as I've said before the out side of the tube will be re-enforced using tin/sheet metal.

This is going to be a fun trip to B&Q soon.

Will draw up plans on thursday.

Pictures as promissed lads and lasses :)

I have a sparker somewhere that i use to fire my cannon from a distance :D

how do the two screws work, does the spark just jump across, and what do you use to put *** power to them?
You can get the piezo electic igniter out of a lighter and with a quick bit of soldering you have 10000 volts at your potato screws :p.

I just viewed the clip of someone firing theres and mine sounds like an Artilery cannon thing going off rofl...

Yh the spark jumps across the screws, that glue thing in the end of the pipe was the sparker, but some BIRK at work managed to superglue it SHUT ,

The sparkers cost £15 each so i wasnt impressed

That bolt that goes through the middle was meant to let the spark jump to it... the only problem was you had to hold the gun under your arm basically otherwise the spark wouldnt jump to the bolt, because there was No earth :)

I managed to buy a Piezo sparker that you get in a gas oven..

the ones in lighters are far too weak and the spark isnt beafy enough :(

Exactly what I found. I had to go and buy a proper oven lighting device. One press of a button and it lets off loads of strong sparks.

Seen this this morning and i almost spat coffe all over the screen. Id watched it wquite a way in and took a mouthful of coffee just as he fired the propane filled one, bad idea :o

Best propelling in my opinion is EASY START its Ethanol and as the name says, its used to start engines.

Its powerful stuff though and you only need to use a wiff..

this is the stuff that COULD blow your combustion chamber into 50 pieces :p

Meal powder is more powerful :p

BTW Dude gunpowder is never a good idea :p

and what is this " Meal Powder " you speak of ;) :)

Oh meal powder is similar to flash powder its just uber fine gunpowder.

I'm just rely on my gaffa tape to hold the cannon together :p

I use very little probably about 2g a shot

Edit: bah cant find my special scales.

I once wrapped a rocket in parcel tape...

Many Many Many Many Many Many Many Many Times, until it no longer looked like a rocket, i like the thing it went up, and tried to come back down because it was overweight :p , but the parcel tape was In Pieces

So parcel tape wont stop it from injuring you :p
