Homefront

I thought it was just CoD with vehicles, the only element of BF in it are the vehicles essentially, the game play looked just as arcadey as CoD and it sounds like the kill streaks are just as game breaking.

There’s vehicles and squads, clan support, demo recording, squad-based VOIP, lan support etc. Some of the modes seem to look like they play like Rush in that if you hold a flag for long enough you open up a new portion of the map to attack. Not sure if you can then be pushed back and forth though. What’s arcadey, BF2/BC2 are arcade. Neither of them are realism are they?

Agreed, the kill streaks are an issue and the screen spam looks dire but if the core game works well (I’m not saying it does, I’m going on what the chaps have said) and is balanced then what is the issue? With some mod tools and server code it could be stripped out for comp play anyway, which rightly or wrongly is pretty much what I'm interested in mostly.

However, I am going to shut up as I’ve not played it

We are on wait and see tbh, the ranked server release looks good, as does the comp side of things and the rcon possibilities. With a bit of luck it will be picked up like cod4 was and get a healthy user base and thriving competitive scene.

Loving the hackers in this game one guy with the name of "ScruB" (ironically enough) was up 88-7 in one map.

Its not the easiest game to get into either, so far my experience has been that snipers just dominate all, they can easily get kills from one end of the map to the other. Add in the fact that they can prone and its like an invisible enemy.

Bloody mp is getting on my ****, it even spawns you in direct line of enemies sometimes. You also seem to die at the drop of a hat, literally 1-2 shots it seems is all thats needed.

Phew! Glad I canceled my pre-order on time :)

I guess it is a shame still though, I was hoping for positive feedback about the MP as I wouldn't have minded a new game.

totally bonkers tbh, one the posts on our forums are all positive about it. One of our chaps said this about it

Having now managed to get the game to a reasonable playable standard, i am really liking it the playability is awesome akin to cod4 but with all the goodies you get in BFBC2. The game is smooth, for me bullet registry is great and the amount of damage the opponent has to take before death is considerably less than BC2 although its not hardcore stylee, which i find fantastic as people die when you think they should, the down side to this is so do you but you get your fair share of frags during a full game.

The additional equipment for your class has to be bought with xp or bp i think they call it, such as ability to use drones, rocket launchers, kevlar vest, etc etc. However these must be bought during the rounds and not at the start of your loadout, which i think is great, as you need to keep an eye on your BP, it also means no RL spamming. Snipers however are still the bain of this game type and homefront is no different with prone in the game this causes you a pain but bearable imo.

The drones purchased as above are great fun driving around shooting at baddies but beware while using your drone you are vulnerable as you see what your drone sees and not from your perspective.

This game has massive potential for scrims and longevity with the dedi files and no doubt map packs will be added later.

Just giving you an insight from my perspective for those on the edge of purchase, and for those that have it could well be a sound investment.
