Homefront

I've just pre-ordered this from a well known UK retailer, but selected a digital download option.
(The reason I no longer get mail order is because of a copy of COD5 which took 2 months to get to me after the release date when I'd pre-ordered it). The digital download option comes with a free copy of metro2033, the hard copy doesn't.

The digital download service for this company is actually located in France, not the UK (e.g: continental europe).

My serial key and download instructions will be mailed to me on "15/03/2011 00:00 British Time". The UK release is the 18th. I wonder if this means I can just use the serial key to "activate a game on steam" on the 15th??

No TF2 hat though :(

This has the potential to be a totally unexpected sleeper hit. It reminds me of Half Life 2 so much, and that is never a bad thing.

This is pretty much my thoughts, I'll probably wait until its cheap(er) and some people I know have played it.

Really do want it to be good though!

It looks like yet another awful, awful CoD rehash, only (and I didn't think this would be possible) worse

Having watched the "Homefront - Large Scale Warfare Dev Diary " video, I was left thinking ooh they have taken all the good bf/bc2 elements put them into COD. It should work. But it just doesn't excite me.

Isn't that what was tried with MoH, and look how that turned out

Must say this is looking pretty decent, though as their last effort was not that great I'm going to wait for a demo or reviews before getting too interested in it!

And instantly my interest is lost. Is it impossible to get a decent length single player FPS these days?

When they clearly expect people to buy it for the MP they don't have to put much effort into SP really...

Still, i suspect the majority of the SP is similar to Black Ops in the sense that a break in shooting things longer than the length of time it took to move beyond where you just finished shooting things was incredibly rare.

Thing is, a huge emphasis on the development of this game was the story. The story is basically irrelevant in the MP, so you'd be forgiven for thinking a large amount of attention is being put into the SP.
