Homeworld 3 - Released 13th May 2024 (early access 10th May)

Well it seems like this game is a few steps backwards from the old games. Probably should have expected it with the way games are now.

Also with the DRM they stuck in it, mods are also unlikely to happen.

So I've just completed the campaign and yes it took be about 8 hours on the nose, that is a little short but it has some good replicability. The storyline was good, I'm not sure I was playing the same game as those who were overly critical of it.

The story was left open ended so I guess that's what that 1 year season pass will cover in time

I spotted a few other points to add to my review above:
The corvette class is a bit thin, only 1 ship available.
Battlecruisers are a bit slow compared to motherships.
The music got A LOT better as you got into the game and I rescind my previous comment about it.

Interested in this, will be my first foray into HW after seeing previously installments. Worried about the negativity Im seeing though? Can get base get £35 and deluxe for £49. Deluxe worth it? In fact is the game worth it/? This type of game is my bag normally

I’ve put my thoughts in this thread a few days ago so I’ll summarise with a yes.

It’s also only £4.37/hour if you complete ignore all the content other than the campaign.

I’ve got no idea what the season pass includes.

@b0rn2sk8 thank you pal, I did read that and really appreciate you taking the time with the detail. May order the deluxe for £49 then

Those that have played it, did you enjoy? Worth £4.37 an hour? Is the season pass thing worth getting or can I just get the base game?
only played 2 hrs as waiting till its it patched up to play it more. Im in no rush tho. But atm dont feel like playing when theres a game stopping bug which takes all control away from you and u have to alt n f4 cos all you can do is press esc and cant even pick quit game. Happened on 3rd mission.

So 35 quid for 2 hrs hmm.

So it's a dumbed down home world game for those with zero attention span and inability to micro manage.

Might as well have just stuck to mobile games.

What's that about bud? I not come across that.

During a cutscene i think it just sorta went into the terrain the camera and then i couldnt use mouse, or keys, except esc worked but all that did was bring up some text in the top left saying cinematic and thats all. I couldnt pan the camera, rotate it, use hotkeys to put the camera on ships in group one for example or anything, so had to alt and f4 to shut down, was mission 3 i think.

Blimey, that's not good. Hopefully patched soon enough for you.

So, I've finally had chance to have a play and honestly, Im enjoying it. I've not played any of the previous installments which perhaps helps given much of the online commentary. Not a huge fan of the cutscenes and it feels a bit like the gameplay is on rails following the story. That said, enjoying it.
