Been wanting to try HoN (Heroes of Newerth) for aaages now, but can't find a bloody beta key from anywhere :(.

If anyone here has a key they would kindly like to give me I would really appreciate it! :D

Absolutely awesome game.
If you didn't play dota though, and don't know anyone who plays HoN it takes quite a while to get good at :/
I got raged at for the first 50 or so games I played for being noob :P
 
Yeah very steep learning curve but yes it is awesome. It's probably up there with my favourite games of all time. Every game is so different due to the variety of heroes.
 
Never played this myself but I have a BETA key somewhere in one of my email accounts. Might dig it out to give the game a go. Sounds like the community is naff though if people dislike new players.
 
I've been in the beta for ages (i thought it had gone gold?), I've probably got loads of invites to give out, I stopped playing because I was terrible and got chewed out a lot over being a newbie, I'll check when I get home from work to see if I can share a few invites.
 
Its just very unforgiving. But the practice zones etc have eased the noob situation.

There is also a fundamental flaw with players that create new accounts just to reset stats and join noob games only to :eek: find noobs on their team.

Still, its amazing despite these facts, and absolutely awesome if you have a group of people to play with.
 
Beta key for me too please! Haven't played DOTA for a while and would love to get back into some competitive play.

I understand what you're saying but you can't imagine how frustrating it is when you get 15 kills without dying only to still lose because your team is full of feeders. I get to play 1-2 games each day and they're usually ruined by people like that. People don't so much rage against new players anyway, just stupid ones.
 
If you can't get a beta for HON try their earlier game which is free to download at www.Savage2.com. It's probably the best game I have ever played. It's fantasy setting but that's it its a FPS RTS with a commander over seeing your team. Truly imersive teamplay game, but it does have a steep learning curve but the gameplay is so exciting and the skill involved challenging.

I am sure some of you will enjoy it. I would say next to Enemy Territory one of the best free games around.

Tried savage 2, was good, but Empires mod for hl2 was better imo when it comes to the FPS/RTS mix. You might like it.
