Horizon: Forbidden West

Trying to get the plat and the melee challenges are so tedious, pressing all the combos and it still decides it's wrong input, maybe its just me! R1-R1-R1 'pause' R1, Hold R1, let go, ugh.
Ignore the R1 after the hold R1 as that hold R1 covers the pressing of R1 for the next move. I wasted a lot of time with that one…

After grinding after the final mission to get the top weapons and armour maxed out i find one thing strange/annoying/disappointing that:

There are no armour/weapons/ammo that is new based on the Zenith Technology. It didnt take Silens long to adapt the corrupter tech to be able to override the machines and i would have thought that after having an entire base full of the tech, the numerous spectre chassis etc along with Beta post endgame items based on that tech would be a great endgame grind. Also it would have been great to have some after main campaign Zenith tech story/enemies, maybe more difficult/corrupted/Hephaestus created/controlled Uber Spectres. Maybe thats to come in DLC in the future?

Hopefully in future DLC. It was a strange omission. I also want to explore their base.

I completed this about 10 days ago and must say apart from some minor annoyances it is simply stunning.

Great gameplay and story telling with execellent graphics and a proper mix of gameplay elements. The attention to detail is amazing and I loved how it was not all combat. When you got tired of the combat you could explore the ruins etc. So it had a very clever mix to keep you interested and coming back for more.

The cliff climbing was a pain in the butt sometimes and some other minor issues like too much weird ingredients for puch upgrades etc. But these did not distract too much overall.

9/10 for me.

Got my first piece of legendary armour a few days ago via a certain bunch of quests. I now see what folks have been complaining about with regards to grinding. The upgrade path of for it is just OTT.

Cant get the Melee Pits finished. The one in Thornmarsh with the combos is frustratingly tough. I have watched youtube videos and take on board the last input is the first of the next combo but i just cannot get the timing on the pause part. I see the little flash then press the button but then it tell me wrong input :( Its the only one i havnt done for the platinum as well. Arrrrrrgggggghhhh!

Thought it was a giant cop out that we didn't get to see the altered form of a certain character.

would have gotten the Plat but the challenges would have done my head in.

I heard this was down it's rating, ala a studio wanting 12A instead of 15 but I broadly agree.

Ted Faro tomb was probably the most engaged I've been thus far, just finished it. Why they had to make you do it with that idiot I don't know but otherwise enjoyed it.

San Fran and the dessert Las Vegas were stand out places in terms of visuals, rest of the game all looked the same to me, which it a pitty.

78hrs played, Lv50. Catching up on Cauldrons at the moment as I largely ignored them. I have one left now, which is Kappa.

I did one beginning with C last night and oh my lawd - the spooky, silent and dead atmosphere of the place had me completely on edge. Not to mention the moving shadows I saw stalking me on more than one occasion.

Such brilliant level design was ruined by the final section which is a long winded fetch quest. This dungeon has no business being as scary as it was!

Running out of side quests to do now so I think it’s time to push on with the main quest as I have most of the map unravelled.

Man there are a lot of skills, you get more skill points for levelling but seems overly bloated especially being able to level the same skill multiple times.

I don't really know where to start, I don't think I can re-roll and it's early game so am I wasting my points on this tree or that? The UI for skills could have been better too. I've heard that by the end you pretty much unlock everything so probably not so much of an issue.

I really like Horizon but the Devs seem to think more is always better, you'd have thought they would have learned more from BotW, besides nicking the glider ;).

So after revisiting to finish the main campaign
Didnt connect with me at-all, the entire outerspace, Zenith story was googy af. Zero to do with Earth, it's inhabitants at large & was pretty thin stuff. Now we've got some 3rd game setup about even more unrelated stuff, a big bad monster A.I based on a thousand year old colony, could just as well been a new Mass Effect story for all it's worth. With some better writers I felt this come have been soo much more that what it ended up being. The rest applies from my prior points.

Will definitely skip the dlc.

Finished this yesterday after plugging in over 90 hours. Thoroughly enjoyed it but thought aspects of the story needed greater fleshing out. I did not mind the thread outlined above but with respect to the trailer.
Was the trailer supposed to be a misdirection? I do not recall coming across any sequence in the main story line or any side-quest where Erend was captured nor I do recall a Tremortusk on or near any beach!

It's a trailer, it's not supposed to be exactly what occurs in the game.

I don't recall a tremortusk causing ice to break either.

I spent about 15 hours longer than I needed to on it farming for bloody parts to upgrade the bows, which was pretty pointless anyway.

Got all the trophies for once but that doesn't seem to be too difficult.

There's enough skill points to level everything if you do all the side quests and errands.

The beach with the Ted mission was the only part i could honestly say looked like the trailer, 95% looked nothing like it. I was sort of expecting a Jurassic Park style tropical island.

After 80hrs, and being at Lv50 I did KAPPA last night. End boss encounter was slightly terrifying :o

I've been holding off doing the GEMINI main quest line for a while so I think I'll have to get that done today to push on with the game, which stands at 65% completion so far. Still hugely enjoying it but I don't like the grind for legendary armour/weapons.
