Horizon: Forbidden West

Loved the original, not been as keen on the sequel I can’t even be bothered to finish it.
I was much the same, loved the original, platinumed it, but the sequel I found an absolute slog, though I did finish it. They'd changed something in the combat from what I remember, like the roll dodge isn't long enough or something, I seemed to be constantly waiting to get up after being hit.
Not in a rush to try the DLC.

This makes me sad to hear as i loved the first one, whats so bad with this one, no spoilers please.
I couldn’t really put my finger on it but the first one blew me away in terms of the graphics, where as the second barely looks any better despite being a PS5 game, combat definitely feels less fluid, it just didn’t grab me like the first one. I got to a point and just thought I can’t be bothered now I’m going to play something else.

By all means give it a go it’s on ps plus now isn’t it? But I’m in no rush to pick it back up again.

I played the first one on pc so it had years of fixes, polish and all the dlc, 4k 60fps etc. Ill be waiting for this on pc again so hopefully they'll have enough time to iron out the kinks.

I'm about an hour after the ridiculous water level and I'm struggling tbh. I'll complete it but it isn't anywhere near as good as the first.

I’d like to say it gets better but…
I'm going to slap it on easy and just ride it out. Tbh I think I clocked out of this game a while ago. Its called "the forbidden west" yet every clan I meet are friendly and have side quests...very rarely am I seeing hostile humans.

This might seem harsh but the whole game seems to be a load of fetch quests...go to a place to obtain x...then go to a place to obtain y and rinse and repeat. Melee combat seems a little pointless this time around aswell.

One thing I have to admit tho is it looks absolutely stunning and I'm on a ps4 pro. It's truly amazing what they have got out of it.

I forgot to say that’s what I did. It actually made the combat a little better as they seemed like sponges on normal even when targeting specific sections.

You make a good point about the setting, they ARE all too friendly! Plus, they go on and on and on, their stories / chats are just not interesting at all.

The DLC is supposed to look even better as it’s a PS5 exclusive.

I too preferred the original and found the sequel a bit more disjointed. Having said that, according to lore, it was called the forbiden west by the previous king/emperor of Sundom to discourage people venturing there. Not because it was actually full of hostile enemies etc.

Think if it like when you mum used to tell you not to go to far when you went out to play :D

I am a bit apathetic to the DLC but if they do have one of the giant Horus machines roaming about, then that shall definitely get me buying it.

Apparently you need to have finished the main story to access the DLC. I had to drag myself to finish it - kinda glad I did now so will probably pick up Burning Shores once the reviews are out.
