hose pipe ban - ideas on cleaning car

looming this summer?? its coming in the 3rd of april round here, that ain't summer :(

i'm thinking of just ferrying bucket / large tubs of water back and forward from the house to rince it.... does mean my flash thing becomes a pretty expensive orniment for the hose thou :(

Wonder if you could do some sort of water butt, filter and pressure washer arangement though....

Water butts are a good idea in practice but the one we have at home produces a green type of liquid which i'm not actually sure could be classed as water. Wouldn't want to wash my car with it.

Bucket+sponge is the best way and the way I've been doing it for ages, only problem is trying to rinse off the car, useing a little watering can seems to work ok thou you have to keep filling it up (I'm to weak for a big watering can!)

thats why i'm wondering about the filter, and a pressure washer to suck the water through at a decent rate....

No idea how practical this would be though

pressure washers dont use a lot of water do they? just forces out the water through a smaller nozzle... hmm...

...perhaps i should put off spending £100 on one just yet then...

but, if involves a hose pipe then you cannot.Even if you were to syphon out the water from your bath with a hose you will still be fined as the ban stops you from using a hose for any reason whatsoever

Filling your bath then using a hose will be a problem, but a hose feed from a rain water tank, no issue except ppl down your road might think your using it from the mains and report you.

get up at 5am when its just getting light... quickly wash car while everyone is in bed. problem solved.

so technically, some of us cannot use power showers, as the head is attached by... a hose

:D

People who advocate just using a hose, bear in mind that even though your neighbours might not report you, if the water company ends up turning off the water and doing the standpipe tap in the street routine (you never know), then they might hate you as much as the devil himself.
