hose pipe ban - ideas on cleaning car

hmm, we have to work out a viable excuse here guys, im struggling to think of one other than board up the neihbours windows in the morning, so they still think its night, go wash the car then take down the boards ?

nah that would never work,

Just do what the copper over the road from me does. Use the hose. If uses his hose to clean his car then I do aswell, technically the hose pipe ban round our area has never been lifted and no-one in my street cares that much about anyone else anyway. Hell, I "broke" into my own house by climbing in through my window once when I didn't have a key and the amount of people who saw me but didn't say anything was shocking. This was at night so they couldn't recognise me.

So yeah, use your hose and damn them :D

The night before your going to wash it, just go out and get slaughtered, then you can just **** all over it as you'll have an ample supply. :)

You'll be ******* like a race horse, or get a race horse. :D

This is totally ridiculous. I pay good money to Bristol water every month for which I expect to be able to shower, drink, wash my car etc. Unless there's police sitting in my street watching I'm gonna completely ignore the ban and continue to wash my car as and when it needs it.

i wish i was as brave as you :p

What you all need is one of these:

512699.001

£19.99 from a famous TV shopping channel. All you need is a bucket of water with some suds in it and you could wash 1-2 cars with it then another bucket with no suds in it to rinse.

It's quite good. The bristles on the brush are very soft and don't damage the car in any way. You just pump the end of the hose in a bucket and the water gradually comes up to the brush then as you move the brush around the car water comes out. Uses a lot less water than a normal bucket and spunge and also enables you to rinse the car easily by not using a hose pipe

I can always take the cars down to one of our depots round the corner that has a pressure washer bit they use to clean all the vans off, I think that'll still be going.

And as I work for the water company I'll be taking names and numbers of offenders :P Starting with myself....

They were talking on the radio about the water companies applying for more restrictions. These are the stopping of ALL non-essential water use such as:

Watering of parks and gardens
Cleaning of public transport such as buses and trains
Cleaning of aircraft
Closure of car washes ( I assume just those who don't recycle water)
Stopping watering home gardens and cleaning of cars.

Of course this will only happen if things get any worse but it's very frightening.

I don't see the problem with washing the car using a bucket and watering can. Thats how I do it everytime because it takes about an hour getting the hose out and putting it back away. :D

Are they MAD? A thick layer of dirt not only hinders the engines, but also changes the aerodynamics.

Madness.

Our hose is always connected and on a reel, I actually use LESS water using the hose, as it has a gun nozzle and hence is only running if I need it to be.

Using buckets, I need to rinse the car by throwing hoards of water at the car. Uses a LOT more. But well if they want me to waste MORE water I guess I have no choice
