How are energy drinks legal?

I actually enjoy the smell/taste of Red Bull. Reminds me of jelly mixture before it has set.

Generally have it as a mixer. And very rarely at that. My last drink containing RB was last October.

Never had it as solely a stimulant though.
 
if its anything like red bull, tried a redbull once, and spat it out, horrid taste and smell

i know red bull and monster etc have a age restricted sale on them, to 16 year old's

It's very unusual for a relatively small dose of caffeine to have anywhere near the effect it had on you. For the vast majority of people the effects are minor to nothing. Energy drinks are not strong. You can get more caffeine per ml in coffee, maybe even in tea. The other ingredients are water, sugar and marketing. And bull semen, of course (*).

I've drank some "energy drinks", but I generally prefer coffee. Most "energy drinks" taste bad to me. The traditional ones smell like very cheap perfume. Very, very cheap perfume. Or maybe rotting fruit. That sickly sweet smell. Most energy drinks have loads of sugar in them too. Not all, but most.

Here's something odd - a few breeds of dog are immune to that. It's the main thing that makes them by far the best long distance runners of any species on Earth as long as it's cold enough. Humans would beat them in warmer conditions because humans are best at shedding excess heat.





* This is a myth, stemming from nothing more than a common ingredient being taurine. Taurine....hey, isn't taurus the Latin word for bull? So taurine must be bull semen, right?
 
On a similar line, why are some supermarkets selling vapes on the shop floor? They get stolen mainly by kids. As a colleague’s daughter works at a larger store and sees empty boxes everywhere. Ours, are in the kiosk.

So if you see a kid vaping, it’s more than likely, it’s pinched.

they shouldn't be on the shop floor, they are still classed as cigarettes and must be in the kiosk behind the desk

I just much rather have a good coffee. If I want caffeine I may as well take it properly.

Except coffee doesn’t have a load if sugar
 
they all smell and taste like vomit, but are pretty harmless. Caffeine levels are generally very low, and the sugars are less digestible sucrose with far too high a fructose ratio for optimal absorption,so they are pointless IMO.

Much better drinking a quality isotonic sports drink made from Maltodextrin. Something like Gu Roctane.

For a direct caffeine hit just take a caffeine pill 200mg without the need to pee and poop. Or enjoy an espresso
 
This has nothing to do with the op but reminds me I used to work with a guy who only drank red bull at work, no tea or coffee or water. He never ate anything either and he smoked about 20 a day. He was a nice guy but I honestly cannot think how he stayed alive.

Spent 14 years working in a supermarket, all gobsmacked at the amount of parents letting there kids drink energy drinks, even as young as 5/6 years old
