How can EE be so far out measuring my Data usage?

1. Ditch EE
2. Join Three
3. Unlimited data

Unlimited data isnt as good anymore as it no longer includes tethering, but yes, fair point. :)

Also I've had nothing but bother recently, the signal keeps dropping, have tried two phones and two different Sims (got a replacement) and still its the same. The coverage just doesn't seem as good as it should be, at least where I am. Very inconsistant as well. One week I have 5 bars and HSDPA at work (dont have a 4G plan) and the next I have no coverage on 3G whatsoever, and have to connect to the 2G network and then I have no internet either, but 3 bars.

I spoke to EE and after 30 odd mins arguing the toss I go nowhere, that said I 'ran out' of allowance 2 days before it renewed and could still use whatsapp etc fine and nothing extra has been charged so it's all good I guess.

If you are in a poor signal area you will be getting a significant number of lost data packets, EE will count these against your usage even though they do not reach your phone. This will explain a difference between EE's value and the one on your handset, but as to why the difference is so large.... no idea.

I had a similar issue last month with EE - basically had run out of 5gb worth in half a month, which is much worse than usual. Went into the shop in Leeds, and they couldn't help me, but spoke to CS on the phone who said that it was their issue as they hadn't stopped me using it (no text alerts or anything), so as it was still working, continue to use it and there will be no extra on the bill - which there wasn't.

Still pretty odd though - I put it down to watching a days play of Yorkshire winning the CC on Sky Go over 4G, but even that seems excessive for 5gb's worth

I was on my last month with EE at the beginning of this year, and was told I went over my data by 1gb and was charged an extortionate amount even though I monitor my usage, since moved to giffgaff and had no issues over 12 months.

EE are by far the worst company I've used in terms of support.

I've been with T-Mobile/EE without issue but just switched to EE proper. Funnily enough, I'm seeing a similar issue. Now that I'm asking, it seems people at work have found the same too.

Are they cooking the books or just monitoring usage in a particularly harsh way?

I've had it with EE.

I rang up for my PAC code recently (with T-Mobile) and I got put through to EE. The guy I spoke to gave me my PAC code and when asked why I was leaving, I told him I wanted to try out 3 with their unlimited 4G. After failing to convince me that their 4G was 'much better' he offered to send out a free SIM which I could use 500mb data on within 30 days, just to test out their 4G speeds around my home and workplace etc.

A few days later I started receiving letters saying thank you for setting up a direct debit and please confirm the details etc and then the following day a bill saying £5 will be taken out on such and such a date. The sneaky **** had signed me up to an EE data contract for £5 a month.

I've had to ring them 4 times since - each time taking almost 30 mins to get through, just to have this account cancelled and the fiver refunded, they are very incompetent. It's really put me off them permanently.

^ Sod it I'm staying with 3 no matter what my problems are with data they seem better than all the other networks, voda and o2 were out because of even poorer data and ee just seem an absolute nightmare to deal with.

Any 4G operator with limited data plan is a troll business detrimental to technology. For starters - the idea of charging people per megabyte or gigabyte is downright stupid in second decade of 21st century. We, as customers, do not regulate how big website, picture or internet content in general is, and charging us for size of download is a sad cry back to times when you would switch off images and formatting of pages on dial up to save your megabyties. This should have died out with 3G, let alone 4G. The idea of faster 4G internet on your phone is to start using more of it - for streaming, for live feeds, for on the go map and content download, not to use very little limit you have, much faster than on 2G or 3G.

In short, stop feeding the troll, drop EE, go to any unlimited operator - let's say "3", unlimited data, 4G data is free where available. Within months EE will stop being stupid about their price plans and join the rest of the world in second decade of 21st century.

Has anyone had any sense out of EE about this then? Surely there are too many people complaining about it for it to be user error.

Isn't that illegal behaviour by the EE employee? One of the things I miss about Android since involuntarily switching to iOS (I had to donate my Nexus S to use as a baby monitor using the Dormi app) is the lack of a call recording app such as Killer Mobile's 'Total Recall'. If we all do this and make a website compiling evidence of mis-sold contracts then we will soon wipe out this utterly deplorable practice.

Mine seemed reasonably accurate up to now although I don't check that often... but I've noticed I've been given a good 300-500MB back in the last few days.

Their website has issues all over the place saying bits of it are not working etc too.
