"In a world where PC components are not connected, one man has bought all the bits....and now he is going to learn how to put them together! Matt Damon is...benenhausen!"

Well done Benenhausen and everyone else here :)

This was (is!) a fun thread to read and follow.

(ps lovely pic of the nipper in the background too)

I'm on my phone now as missus wanted laptop for work.well what can I say - nothing blew up!!!!!!!
It actually fired up as if it was switched on in a showroom, all 4 fans whirred away silently, crisp lights shone on the CPU and the monitor said "new CPU installed" and asked me to push f1 or f2.
Couldnt have gone more swimmingly.I've added the FireWire thingy and put case back together in my manroom/study.
I will post pictures of it later.

I thank you all from top to bottom of my heart-it was an emotional experience-just a shame tom hanks couldn't make it!

Good job fella.

As stated earlier there is nothing like the anticipation of having that pile of components and sticking them all together and waiting for a beep and a flash.

Haven't done a build in ages...

Now get an OS on it and post on here from the new PC.

Well done! Such a nice feeling completing your first build it really is. Now I hope your going to enjoy it to its full potential!

can we educate him in the art of overclocking yet, with the components he has , should be a nice squeeze of free juice from them. :)

we are on OcUK afterall.

Ps, well done fella

Whats your computer going to be used for just out of interest? Did these kind OCUK forum members help spec you this then?

I started this idea because I was sick of factory-pushed pcs that run out of clout after a couple of years.
I then decided that as I'm agamer I'd better see what spec I can get for what money.
Too many times I've tried spec-testing pc games and lost and thought I bet that game is pretty hot on a decent pc.
I also want good video for Internet and otherwise as I'm also sick of trying to play videos on poor spec pcs and losing.
Futureproof was also what I wanted and I think I've got it.can just upgrade now rather replace!
Knowing that once I'd finished the build that I wouldn't have to listen to some plum trying to sell me a £1000 pc that ain't worth £500 if u could build it yourself.
I'm proud too as it's a computer that my family will now use for years to come.

Haven't done the bios, temps thing yet-tonight in between arse man u semi final

Glad you've got it all together and starting up, big relief when it first starts isnt it! :D

Just get an OS installed now and get some games going, they should run pretty smooth on that spec :) good luck with the last few bits
