HOW DO I BUILD MY PC NOW IVE BOUGHT ALL THE BITS?

I havent read the thread, but if it's taken all of 16 pages to make your first post from your new build then something must have gone bady wrong :p

Congrats.

Installed the audio drivers off of the mobo disc yet? Have onboard sound set in the BIOS? Have the jacks plugged in to the right outputs?

Check everything that Lovemonk has mentioned - these are the obvious places to start and one of them is the likely culprit.

One extra thing you could do is right click on my computer and select properties and click on the hardware tab and then the device manager's button. Just check to see if you have any yellow warning triangles against any of your devices. If you have one next to sound - the chances are you've forgotten to install the drivers. (Just click out of devoce manager once you've looked.)

EDIT: Or you could do the above via the control panel and double clicking on the system icon and then select device manager's button - then follow the above.

Volume control slider setting? Find it somewhere like control panel/multimedia settings.

err. someone mentioned jacks plugged into outputs...can you elaborate please?...i thought i would only need to plug the dvi cable in and i would get picture and sound? i guess not?

and it may sound fussy but you know the icons you get in the bottom right hand corner of the screen in windows? like your a/virus, messenger, etc?
well ive got the screen resolution at the highest windows setting but most of these icons look appaling, much like a badly packed kebab....

lol, the dvi cable is for the screen. if you have speakers/headset there should be a green jack on the end of it. if you plug that in to the green hole in the back of your pc, you have sound.

from the looks of your pic i couldn't see any speakers on the monitor, nor could i see a headset or seperate speakers ;)

any time mate =)

for the icons, i have no idea, one of the many tech wizards here may be able to help. I have seen programs like iconmanager which let you change the icons themselves, but i'm not sure if it will alter the resolution.

Not sure what you're talking about with regards to the icons, perhaps a pic will help?

Also can you post some pics of the inside please? :D

This thread is like the story of the frankenstein monster.

Dr. Benenhausen-Stein, your pc is finally ALIIIIVE.

Uber awesome build considering you were so nervous well done :D

Building a rig my self in about a months time nice to see a thread like this and congrats on getting it working :D. If you want the RC (release candidate) of Windows7 will be out on the 5th of May so maybe you could try that out aswell. It expires June 2010.

He's teasing us :-)

What icons? If you mean the ones next to the clock, right click on the clock and click "customise notification icons" and hide any you don't use. :)
