HOW DO I BUILD MY PC NOW IVE BOUGHT ALL THE BITS?

and how do i know which is the maximum test that you talk of?

pretty much open prime95 (google to get it), then just press start and watch your temps rise and rise and rise and...... yeah ;)

Or try the above stated max heat test on CoreTemp. I cant because i dont have anything better than a PentiumD -__________________-

here it is face off in all its messy virgin glory

Ouch!

Cabling tip: you can probably stuff some of the unused cables from your PSU into the drive bays at the front of your case. You have room.

I hate cable tidying after a build - it's a bit like the washing up after a really good meal. I've never perfected the art or the patience to do it effectively (that's where the washing up analogy ends btw). I just get a few cable ties and bundle congregated wires together and attach them to bits of casing. It generally looks awful.

I need an OCD computer friend...

Depends what you have it set to do. If your running prime 95 you can just let it run and run.

You can escape out of it anytime - but if you're running a timed test it's best to let it run its course and get the stats (from above it sounds like you are)

Not really - unless anyone else is interested?

Just the basic outputs are fine - just do print screen and paste it to a paint prog and then upload it to here.

I should take a pic of my P-182 system. Most of the cables run under the motherboard. The only mess is probably around the graphics card, what with the headers and all. Makes future changes much easier...

That said, I think I'm going to go for a modular PSU on my next build.

benenhausen doesn't need to worry about cable management yet, I guess. The increased airflow that a tidy PC gets might make his temps even better, though.

no change in temps - its running test 6 - when does it stop?

44, 43, 38, 42

If that's your temps after ten minutes or so, then that's great - you clearly did an A1 job with the heatsink install.

My stock Q6600 idles at about those temperatures - goes to 55 under load with the fans on full, 67 with the fans on the lowest setting  :D

Next step would be overclocking ;)
