Hi,
Sat behind me today two 'students' laughing like 14 year old boys at the most pathetic things. Dropping your pen isn't funny is it?

Are comments like 'This is ****', and 'I cba', or 'what is this guy on about'. What a bunch of...well, you get the point.

I don't understand how these people are here. Actually maybe I do. The class is mixed with 2 other classes, which obviously had entry requirements that you had to be errmm on planet earth. that's it.

But why do these people come to uni? They're clearly never going to make anything of themselves. I mean, they've already been kept back a year but they still can't be bothered with it? Are they just here for 'free money' becuase they're never going to earn enough to pay it back?

I would prefer it if these fools did this in their own time and didn't waste mine because I would actually love to have a future.

University is avaliable for pretty much anyone these days, which is great because nearly every decent job going requires a degree.

The unfortunate side effect of this is complete muppets getting in!

As a case in point, on my Computing Science course there was a group of 3 or 4 asian lads who never, ever stopped talking in lectures. At first it was just slightly annoying. After a few weeks it was downright bloody aggrivating!

It got sorted in the end but something as simple as manners don't seem to be required to get into university.

1st year yeah?

Takes a term or 2 to get rid of the "retards" that slip through the net.

The rebellious ones straight out of public boarding schools or the hopelessly thick ones that must have just fluked their A levles.

I remember a lot of shared modules form my first term in Brookes (oxford poly lol)

Some of the people couldn't even understand the most basic principles they I had mastered in my flippin GCSEs.

Ive only really seen one guy like this on my comp sci degree he strolls into leactures late then sits there looking like he thinks hes 'ard with at least one of his ipod headphones in, day dreaming away

Although I don't like to say it, most of my mates are really smart, training to be vets and doctors etc, but one of my best friends started at uni in September who struggles to put a sentence together without making several very basic mistakes. It makes me wonder why the hell a degree is required for most jobs when any idiot can get one, surely it voids them ?

Yeh first year mate. But these guys have already done this year and have been held back cos they're clearly thick as **** so they're here again.

We'll see if they shut up next time, I don't really plan on loosing my temper because when I do I just loose it. Which isn't the best plan now is it. :p

The BOS rule is definitely applicable. You will find that most of the ******* will be finished by the first year though as they realise its not that much of a free ride and they cant take the pace.....unless you're doing History of Art or something similar :p

Sounds like they were high tbh.

I agree, exactly what I thought at first. But overhearing their conversation that they 'haven't been able to get any for days' and have just been bored made me laugh. What are they going to be like baked then? 14 year old GIRLS maybe.

do you still get interviewed to get into uni nowadays ? or do some of the just slip in ?

It depends on the university but no I don't think most still use interviews, some with high demand might but for the majority they need all the students they can get. That said it was about 6 years ago when I applied so maybe policies have changed slightly.

My mates and I always used to joke that if there was an entrance interview for Abertay it would consist of a single question "Do you like cake?" as there is a certain amount of pandering to the lowest common denominator.

Ok maybe laughing at a pen is a bit extreme, but i sit in most lectures looking around at all the geeks and losers - who may be able to get good grades - but have absolutely zero social skills, sitting on their own with the most miserable face ive ever seen.

I would prefer to sit with friends, have an occasional laugh AND still learn. If our lectures weren't full of retards making daft comments then I would have nothing to laugh about and my life would be as boring as yours :)

Im at Uni to get my Degree because I need it, doesn't mean I cant have a good time in the process.

Hi Spain. :D Yeah those idiots were flipping annoying weren't they. Old Ken Paley was the only one who really did anything about it I thought.

Remember Dumb and Dumber? They would turn up about 40-50 minutes late for a two hour lecture and then prove their dumbness by not knowing anything at the workshops and tutorials. Haven't seen them for ages.
