How do Idiots get into university?

Do you feel such distaste towards them because you see something of yourself in there?

I think I was very similar to those who you describe as 'idiots' when I started Uni. I grew up quickly, thanks to my new environment. Perhaps that is also why they are there...

Maybe he wants to learn rather than prat about like a child in playschool.

Thank You. I'm putting myself in great financial hardship to do this and I want to do it right first time.

This is their second year they have been held back because they failed it first time around?

Then you should be glad that these 'idiots' are exactly what they promise on the tin, if they are obvious they are easy to avoid and you wont find yourself in that crowd.

My university offers degrees in "combined studies" which is basically a pick and mix between any class of any level for 3 years. A lot of people get in with lower than required grades because they uni wants more money (so more students) and then they quickly get sent to combined studies. It's actually possible to do three years worth of easy first year courses and make a degree out of it!

My second year maths class was mixed with the electronic engineering class, and most of them were idiots who just messed around and made a lot of noise in lectures. There's a time and a place for that sort of thing, and it's not in classes.

I'm at the same uni as Welshy and I can confirm there are indeed a lot of geeks. These are the very same people that are social retards and when they go clubbing or down the SU they just sit there like lettuces not saying a word. This applies to some girls too I think. So many wierdos at my campus because it's a technology one. My course started with 25 people and has dropped to around 15.

'Technology Campus Full Of Geeks'

In other news, 'Bears crap in woods'.

Sounds like every day at my uni tbh.

Of course the only person who would get upset about it would be that guy. You're not that guy are you

:p at social retards. I'm not one of those guys mate I have an awesome social life, i love going out, going to the gym, chilling out with my mates kinda thing but i know the people you are talking about. Oh and btw women are a very very large factor in my life :p

I'd hate to ever be thought of as a geek, it just isn't my thing. But at the end of the day I was there to learn and needed to listen today to what the chap was saying.

P.s. Beansprout, you know anyone who goes to the gym here. I need a training partner

That's terrible. Maybe that's why people think degrees are getting easy.

And yes there is a time and a place and they picked the wrong time, and the wrong place.

I think money culture is creeping into University in a big way. Was thinking of applying to a course at Middlesex until I realised they were charging more than double their closest competitor. But then again, Middlesex are in such money trouble they have dropped some History subjects IIRC

Go to university.
Spend 2 and a half years drinking and corrupting young girls/being corrupted
Work hard for 6 months
Come out with a degree.

Whats not to like?

Nope. Grotty state school in a rubbish area, then a decent A-level college. Why?

Been spending time in the hills of North Wales with an Oxbridge girl over the weekend. That and a load of UCL students and some miscellaneous professionals, mountaineering nerds and a few working class lads such as myself.

It got me thinking about the different ways people develop through education, and the different dynamics amongst social classes, including just how such things are defined.
