How do you fall asleep?

The voices used to bother me too.

I see.

The voices only get to me when my mind isnt distracted - when something is going on around me I can block everything in my brain out completely and just concentrate on people talking or music or traffic.

Whenever I've been on the pc straight before bed, it takes me atleast an hour to fall asleep.

I used to have the tv on low which used to send me to sleep sooner whilst giving me something to concentrate on but now I've got a 42" tv it's so bright that it keeps me awake all night if I have it on.

Just now im going for routine, after iv finished playing comp then i go get a pint of milk, stick the tv on with a 30min sleep function, and curl up in bed (though got be the right/same position)

then after a bit i normally go to sleep

Anyone have any great tips to help relax and fall asleep at night?

It seems lately as soon as I turn off the light and get into bed my mind starts to race with just about anything and everything?

It's pretty annoying that I can't just lay there relaxed and not over thinking!!!

I do actually think its because I go straight from being infront of a monitor to bed within minutes and maybe thats the course?

Music CAN help but sometimes I will keep listening and stay awake, where as other times it will help and I'm falling off that edge within minutes.

It's just that I have been extremely tired this past couple of weeks, and to a point where I feel I need to hit the pro plus or get a pepsi during mid morning!

Any hints/tips?

Turn the TV.computer off for an hour before you go to bed, otherwise your mind stays stimulated. Alternatively if you are having problems sleeping take Nytol one-a-night (half a tablet needed per night) and that will knock you out for the count.

It actualy helps :)

Turn off all electrical devices, or better yet remove them all from your bedroom if you can. They affect sleep quality.

Really i find i sleep much better with my pc on:confused:.And its not exactly light on the power side, although it might be the fan noise that helps.

Your not like those nuts that made a Faraday cage around their bed because of the mobile phone antenna stopped them sleeping?
(yet complained of nothing when they where told it was turned off for the week when it was still on :p:rolleyes:)

There's plenty of stuff on the net about electrical devices affecting sleep. Some contributing to sleep apnea and so forth. The fact that they produce a low (conciously inaudible) hum would suggest it as well.

I've usually Had about 1/8th during the course of my day before I get to the spliff b4 bed so not really no!

No need for roll eyes i though the heart warming smiles would sugest that's its a joke.

but anyway an 1/8th?

Lightweight.
