How do you manage your storage?

C: 120GB SSD (OS etc) Documents, Pictures etc mapped to owncloud folders so stored locally and auto uploaded to my Dedicated server

Z: Root directory on my NAS which stores films, music, photos, drive images etc.

There's a midnightly backup of my Dedicated server downloaded to my local NAS and anything important on my NAS is uploaded to the dedicated nightly
 
C: 500 GB SSD for OS and applications
D: 2x250GB SSD in RAID 0 for games
E: 1TB SSHD for local files (work, dropbox & synology sync backup, downloads etc)
12TB NAS in RAID 5 for large file storage.
 
Here is mine.

C: 1 TB SSD is where I keep the OS, all docs, music, pictures, programs and some other stuff. The other drives store the rest like my steam games and films.

All my folders on all the drives are neatley organised. Hate having messy folders :)

C: 500GB SSD for OS, games and applications
D: 2x1TB mech drives in RAID 1 for a certain amount of redundancy with all my videos, photos, music and important docs.

An external 1TB drive to back up the RAID 1 array.

One drive cloud storage for my most important photos and documents.

Google play to back my music up.
 
Just a question to those people not using offsite/cloud backups for their important stuff.

What happens when your house burns down? ;):p

at that point theres more important things to worry over than lost data :rolleyes:

It's also covered in my work t&c's :)

Plus you can always store the extra important things (ie photos) on external drives that are fireproof or in a fireproof case :p

Of course there is, but the fact remains that if you've not backed up off site then all your data has gone up in smoke, pardon the pun ;)

Sorry missed your earlier post. Of course in your case then due to nda's you'll have to keep data onsite in an appropriate container. However I'd be willing to bet the majority of people on this forum don't have the same requirements as yourself and you're more of an exception to the rule :)

The fact of the matter is most people don't have a decent back up plan for a worst case scenario. I've seen it literally hundreds of times when people have lost their all important photos, docs etc after a drive has failed.

D: Samsung 850 EVO 1TB SSD = Games
E: Seagate Barracuda 3TB HDD = Install Programs, Temp Files & Media, syncs Install Programs and Media with server (HP N54L)

Server

C: Corsair P128 120GB SSD = Windows & Applications
D: 2x WD Caviar RED 3TB RAID1 = Network Backup & Install Files
E: WD Caviar Green 2TB = Media

That's my storage at the moment.

I give myself read-only access to all networked music/pictures/videos. This way, no accidental deletions, safe from malware.
 
On my main PC;

1. 500gb SSD as boot and 'core' programs / games,
2. 1gb HDD for other stuff, I keep but not use a lot.

And then a Media PC also used as a file server, all linked with Cat cables and additionally available via wireless to laptops.

Additionally I have 2.38TB on Onedrive, and backed up to the Media PC - movies, photos, work files etc.

ahhh network storage too..

well my main pc storage has slightly changed too, so as of now..

Main PC:
C: 120gb SSD - Windows 7 and Drivers
D: 500gb HDD - Games and Programs
E: 500gb HDD - Movies and Tv Shows
F: 500gb HDD - Other storage, random junk etc..

FTP Server:
C: 2gb SD card via SD to IDE adaptor
4x 1tb HDD in RAID 1 for file security
Mainly filled with movies and tv shows, for access from my Raspberry Pi,

Raspberry Pi - Running XBMC, in bedroom, for watching movies and tv shows in bed with the mrs..
 
I just have windows and programs on a 120g fast SSD, then all my games on a 500gb SSD. I try to keep all my games on steam so i can just delete games when i havent played them for a week or 2, then redownload them when i fancy playing them. With steams fast download speeds i only have to wait a few mins for most games.

Same. 100meg fibre here... I dont have to wait long for game downloads :D

but to save even more time.. You could backup steam games, makes installation even quicker next time you fancy playing it :D
