How Does Redex Work?

Ah right - it normally feels 'right' to slip it into 5th once I hit around 33 - 34mph. Engine doesn't struggle. Sits at around 1.5k revs I think.

How on earth can you accurately measure when you have used £5 worth?

my light comes on, i put £5 in, when i have used £5 the light comes on???

it may not be accurate to the ml but its close enough.

mine cruises comfortably in 5th at 30 so long as the road is flat, my dads old 02 fiesta did not and needed to be at about 35 in 5th.

When you refill after using a "tank of fuel", how many litres go in? I would be very surprised if you are actually averaging anywhere near 23mpg!

I would validate your economy exactly before investigating possible problems.

I was about to ask this

It's very unlikely you're getting 40 or 45 (however big the tank is) into it each time

That's still way too small amount to get an accurate reading.

Calculate it over 2x full tanks at least

ive been getting 45 miles + from £5 for the last 6 months, if i put £10 in i get 90+. i never fill the tank only ever put £5 or £10 if going somewere extra.

as petrol has gone up slightly it has come down to 40-45.

Issue I have is that with my 1.25 2006 Ford Fiesta, I'm only getting around 220 - 230 miles from a full tank.

I do 60 miles a day for uni and it's done on A-Roads so there's no stop-start and it's at constant speed of 70mph.

It's been serviced every year and just had it's last service two months ago and it's MOT a couple of weeks ago which it passed with no advisories.

I'm stumped to what the problem is. I also feel the cars not running as smoothly as it should be. The tyre pressure etc is all correct.

I'm not sure if this applies to the MK6 Fiesta's as well, but I know a couple of people who have got MK5 Fiesta's and they only return around 200-230 miles to the tank. As suggested, it is crap and there is nothing wrong with them its just they are not the most economical engines around. After a full motorway trip the other week I returned around 300 miles in my MK5 1.25 Fiesta. I think my 1.25 Fiesta only returns around 35mpg on A roads usually if that.

My W reg Fiesta 1.25 zetec gets 290-300 miles out of a tank (35L-I think) but I have noticed that anything over 70mph really affects the mileage.

My initial comment was probably way off the mark - Placebo is usually where you think theres an improvement in whatever....

I've tried the Diesel treatment in my old Mondeo TD and noticed sod all and I have tried Redex with my 328i and noticed sod all! :p

I don't fancy forking to see if it has any effect on my Scania - I wonder how much Redex I'd need for 500 litres? :)

i had a pd130 audi a4 years back. one day it started to have a wobbly idle. i got some millers injector cleaner and it was fixed within a tank

my other half had a single point injection metro, that started to idle badly. you could see the spray pattern was bad down the throttle.

one bottle of millers and all was good again

I used to use it on my old carbed Uno back in the 4* days. It made a big difference then, but I can't see it being worthwhile on modern engines on unleaded or additive full diesel.

redex sorted out my ex girlfriends cars misfire when coming back on the power after changing gear in her vectra after 2 tanks of fuel
the car had the misfire a month before i put the redex in

I have another Q and might aswell add it in this thread instead of making another one.

When I start my car in the morning it has a really hight idle. Like over 1k revs and can just exit out my driving at quite pace just using my clutch. It settles down after a few minutes.

Is that normal? If not, any ideas what is up with it?

Isn't that auto-choke or something?

I've heard storys about people using redex on older cars and it causing more problems than it fixes due to it getting rid of deposits in the engine and opening up potential leaks/cracks.
