main reasons i went for the phenom based on everything i'd saw before your 4 pence thread and the fact i7 was out of my price range

i'm starting to use Photoshop x2 ultimate a lot more now and this sytem takes forever to pass a filter,games are becoming harder to run now especially the later realeases on the 939 rig,i'm gonna start looking at basic video editing sometime this year so want a little umphh.the new rig will support 16x16 crossfire if i decide to later down the line. I personally just looked at a lot of tests and benchmarks for different cpu's and it seemed quite suitable for my needs/future needs

not too many reviews around on these atm but the ones I have read say there are decent for the money but theres better available for not too much more cash

That should be fine unless you are into photography!!

Colour accurate monitors are expensive!!

I'm going to say two things only in this thread.

1:- a cheap crap case such as a storm scout is a waste of money, the way graphic cards are increasing in size they may not fit, a good quality/large case will last years(5+)

2:- i7 is over priced for its gains.

Whats the lil thumb stick like and are the keys easy to use im right hander and usally play with both hands on keyboard for Mmo's ie From T accros and down to V using Alt for more keys

it can feel a little strange at first but u get used to it within a hour,the thumb stick is very good imo they released a new driver so it can be a digital thumb stick i use it as WASD on most games.

it's a very handy bit of kit in photo shop i assign commands to a single button instead of going throuch menu's or pressing ctrl+l or other commands

plus macros the options are endless plus 3 profiles so in theory 72 different keys.

it certainly improved my crysis skills lol

ok got ya now.

it will be stock when it arrives if build goes ok and the baram turns up ontime i'll look into oc'ing at the weekend but if i feel a massive leap from the 939 rig i'll probably leave it at stock.

i only oc'd the socket 939 when it started getting sluggy with more modern programs and stuff.

But by all means when it's together we'll se what it can do compared to your rig

Im sure that mobo has pre-set settings to OC a 955 BE which is exactly the same as the 965 BE with a slightly lower standard clock. Makes financial sence to buy a 955 and OC it to 3.8 ghz in about 2 seconds using the asus pre-sets.

Someone please correct me if im wrong.
