How far does everyone commute to work?

Every year I consider cycling to work and every year I reject it. I prefer going cycling when I actually want to cycle somewhere, I enjoy it that way.
When I'm going to work I just want to get there, and definitely don't want to get there and then think about cooling down, washing, changing and so on. Plus my route has some monster hills both there and back which I honestly can't be bothered to cycle up after a busy day at work!

Here here!

15-20 miles and can take anywhere from 20mins to an hour depending on the route/traffic/time of year/weather

10 mile each way, do it in 20mins if i hit lucky with green lights straight through.

There is 5 lights along one stretch of road, if you get the first one on red you fail and stop at everyone, if you hit the first with green then awsome! :D

At one stage I used to drive from bristol to wallingford daily, took between 80 to 100 mins each way. Thankfully these days I work from home, the commute is much easier!

Hi, I recently came to the decision to move 30 miles away from work. This is a fair jump from the 17 miles I'm used to.
Does 30 miles there and 30 miles back sound like a massive commute? It'll be driving.

depends. is it through towns and city streets at <15 mph? Or is it on clear A roads where you can do 60mph + ?

I do about 12 miles to work, and it can take anywhere from 20 mins to 60 mins depending on the alignment of the planets, and/or any imminent virgin sacrifices.

I do 5 miles and used to drive but I'm hoping to start cycling in. Mainly to save money as spending 1100 quid a year on a car seems a bit of a waste.

Although sat in the car in the warm when it's raining or snowing is rather enjoyable as people get drenched and cold.

Watch me post in a week saying I have a cycle sores and I'm getting the bus haha.

Holy thread revival Batman :p

For me, 20 minutes bus and 20 minutes walk. I think it's pointless having to travel 3-hour round trip to work for 8 hours. I believe in the live and work in your own town thing.

went from 20-25 miles/week to 100+/week on my road bike :) commuting 20 miles/day takes me 40mins to and back from work..

woodgreen to paddington

The flip side is that you don't really commute; you are doing something enjoyable from the moment you leave until you arrive at your destination.

Either,16 miles each way taking 50 minutes cycling, WFH or cab to T5 are my usual commutes.

27 miles each way. Anything from 30 mins to 3hrs on the M62. It's not too bad usually, went from 6 mile each way as had to relocate, but I get relocation mileage which covers the cost easily (currently 67.9mpg in my little diesel Clio). Used to have a 70mile each way commute from Leeds to Hull, god that was painful.
