id get a crx or an EF civic vti for that price.

ok not mega quick but they handle on rails wheigh not much much and have 150hp and VTEC!
I think you'll struggle to get a tidy CRX with that budget, even rotters are hitting £500-£1000

There are a lot of 1000cc bikes out there for £1500 that will get you 0-60 in 3 seconds and some will do 100mph in 1st gear (thinking early blades here).

Go on, get a bike. If your after speed thrills this is where its at! Plus you get to scare the crap out of your mates taking em on the back. :p Stretch to £2000 and you will be able to buy a 190mph missile with handling and brakes that will always be better than you are as a road rider.

Come to the dark side . . . ;)

R5 GTT has to be the only way to go here.

play with actuator or bleed valve if it has one fitted to decide how fast you want to go/how short lived you want it to be.

I can't remember the last time I saw a clean, original R5 GTT... :(

Back of last months performance french car mag mate. original, concourse gordini turbo. Guy was after offers/swaps. Was really thinking of offering my car and a few quid to have fun for a few months before i buy the cossie.

Seriously? I'd give a bollock for that...

Balls to concours though.

Low. Clean. 13x8 Gotti splits.

I think I just had an accident...

Top of the list so far is a XR2(mk2) turbo conversion or a 2l 16v nova/corsa

I very nearly bought an XR2 turbo and a nova turbo in my yoof (10years ago!!!).. do it.. especially if the xr2 is blue or the nova is white.

Fabulous.

£1500 man.. thats not even bonus money.. I wish I had a garage! Mrs 100 wouldn't forgive me if I put an XR2 on the drive.

Seriously if you want reliability and your looking at cheap old cars you can scrub old ford nails, crappy vauxhalls and any french tat off the list.

Any of these will give u major trouble.

Go for a lude.

Or if you want torque, get hold of a really old civic, the one before the EF, get a B20 block from a Honda CRV, then a B16 head from a civic vti, bolt them together and away you go.

A friend of mine did this and he ran loads of 13.5 second 1/4's, was very funny seeing him run neck and neck with an NSX, he never had it set-up or anything and guessed it was running about 175-180bhp, with proper work these can easily reach 250bhp+ N/A.

Or Civic VTi, get an old volvo turbo, make up some intercooler pipes and bam, instant evo beater, I know as I had one. :p

Another Vote for an E36 328.

193bhp as standard (though these cars will be 9-12 yrs old), great handlers for what they are, sweet on m-ways too.

Can be pushed to 210-220bhp with bbtb/induction/manifold mods too..

Great cars, if suffering from a little image problem in some quaters.

Are you after all out speed then, handling or something else?

the mk3 supra that was recommended before would probs win for speed, maybe an lsd lude for handling?

BMW E36 328i?

You'd have a sheddy example for £1500 imo

£1500 would buy a tidy e30 325i though.....

My money would go on an e34 540i - 286BHP V8 in an ideal world, a manual one.

I rolled my mothers XR2 on Mothers day (!) - never liked them since! :o :D

Over the past few months I've been toying with the idea of a Volvo 850 T-5. Plus you get the Audi-quattro 5-cyl sound!

i've already got an E30 project ta and i doubt i'd get a decent 325 manual 3 door for 1500 :)

XR2 Turbo :D

Well, I do have my car serviced by an e30 specialist, so I'll take his word for it ;)

WTF - I still say the e34 540i manual! :D

O/T - The specialist in question has a '91 e30 for sale, a snip @ £40k.

You so know you want a nova!! Turbo lump sitting in it, 200bhp easily and I bet a LOT of fun could be had with that. ;)
