How fast do you go on the motorway?

Usually cruise at 90-95mph indicated as I know my true speed will be lower so if caught should be nothing more than a fixed penalty. I'll take my chances on that, never been caught yet on the motorway (although I might be waiting on a letter as we speak :p)

If I'm penny pinching on fuel then I'll stick to 80mph but that doesn't happen often due to how very boring it is :o I like to make progress and pass people, doesn't seem so boring then :p

Oh I best add the usual goody-to-shoes ocuk responce of "I drive within the limits of my car, traffic and conditions" :p

I've only really done three big motorway journeys so far. The first one I stuck to 70, the second I stuck to a constant 85, then on the last one between 90-130 (Middle of the night, slowing down when overtaking the occasional people I passed).

I guess it's a terrible case of "Hmm, well nothing happened last time, so I guess I can go a little faster". I'll probably end up sticking to 70 if I get caught... unless I get caught doing triple figures in which case I'll be taking the train.

I tend to cruise at 70-75 indicated during the day, maybe 80 at night, mainly for fuel consumption reasons really. If I wasn't paying the fuel I'd probably go quicker.

60 to 70 if I'm ahead of schedule at work or on work time with no deadline to meet.

70 if I'm driving in my own free time / going to work.

75 if I'm in a hurry / going home from work.

* Im using NSL dual carriageway as "motorway" driving because we don't have motorways in Nar'folk :p

If I'm going a long way (50+ miles each way) it'll be 75 all the way.

Generally on the motorway I will admit that I drive too fast, normally cruising atleast 80mph. Triple figures have been known (a lot :o ) when both lanes are empty.

I usuaully sit between 70 and 80, with bursts up to around 95ish.

Close-ish ratio gearbox means i'm doing 4000rpm @ 80mph

On a clear day about 80 on the speedo, sometimes creeps over but I'm normally worried about getting cought and adding to my points collection.

Your car makes more noise at 70 than at 88?

My 172 does as well. Between 70 and 80 it makes a really annoying loud booming noise. Over 80 and it's a lot quieter, and gets quieter still up until around 100ish. Yes, I know this sounds weird, but I blame it on the SS exhaust I've got on it.

generally sit at about 5krpm (when it revs to 8.2, its not as high as it sounds) which puts me at around 90-95 i guess in 6th?

I drive according to conditions, just trying to keep a decent distance between me and the car in front.

If it's clear then I'll try to keep it no higher than 95, but sometimes I find myself creeping up to 105 because the traffic is flowing well. Never above that though.
