How hot should a Q6600 G0 be on a Tuniq Tower at idle, mine seems toasty.

as in title, it's a Tuniq Tower, and in an Akasa Zen.

Is 37/38c idle normal for this kinda setup??

its just hit 39c, and this is wit the side of the case off.

btw the temps are from the bios.

the temps are exactly the same as they were with the stock cooler, if anything there hotter?

could I need to apply more thermal paste? whats going on?

What programme are you using to monitor your temps! (try core temp),
Which thermal paste did you use.

I did put a very thin layer of thermal paste on, becasue everyone says you should not put to much on.

Could I try putting more paste on?

using BIOS for temps.

and themal paste is Tuniq TX-1

If you use to much it can make your temps worse, If you used Arctic Silver, you only need a small line accross the processor, which gets spread out by the Heatsink.

Ignore the above, down load core temp and see what that reads.

Are you using Vista 64bit!

If yes you will need the new version which was posted on these forums, I will go and seek.

Hi,

Found the links, I've included the original thread from here, make sure you read the post in the second link because every time you start core temp you will need to click on 2 other files which are zipped to the same directory, I didn't and wondered why it did not work.
