How I laughed

I don't mean that aspect of it, I mean it as the aspect that the PC platform is the best and the gamers are the best and that people who play on consoles 'suck'.

That is an elitest attitude.

The PC platform IS the best, you can get far higher details, better effects and so on with a modern PC over a 360.

And clearly the gamers are better too if mediocre PC gamers can beat very good 360 gamers at the same game using their respective platform

I can see precious little reason to spend all that time and effort getting cross-platform multiplayer gaming working anyway regardless of the problems of differential controllers and displays. If a game is good it'll support enough people to have an online gaming community on one platform anyway, if it isn't, it won't.

Already pointed this out myself in the thread on this in the Console forum.

This just seems to be a pointless argument to stroke some 'e-peen' about who is better. It's silly to even argue about, at the end of the day, what benefit at all is there in being able to play with or against people on another platform?

PCs will always be the best platform for gaming. Just never the best value.

Console market is much, much, bigger than the PC gaming market. And that is the reason we, PC gamers, are getting and going to be screwed.

nothing wrong with either method of control. Only problem is pitting them against each other.

Keyboard and mouse vs Control pad should never happen, its stupid. And it really is cheating if you use a device that is a blatant hardware hack on a console to change the input type to keyboard and mouse inorder to gain the obvious advantage over a controller.( I know thats not the case in this matter, but some people are doing this)

Precision and speed wise, a controller cant keep up with a mouse and keyboard, its zero to do with console gamers being crap, and pc gamer being awesome. Its simply down to DPI and the way the hardware works

IF KB + mouse is so much better then how can you defend there being nothing wrong with a gamepad for FPS?

That's totally subjective to personal opinion though.
You can just as easily say that Console Gaming is the best platform for gaming.

No you can't as the PC can always push out better graphics and support larger worlds with more items and effects

Theres nothing wrong with Gamepads for FPS games either. They just cant keep up with Keyboard and mouse, I edited my post before. And it explains a bit more of what i mean. Aslong as the playing field is level, All is fine

Anybody can use a mouse though, anybody. I prefer FPS on the consoles now. Its a much more involving experience.

I agree, but only for online FPS', the gap between the worst with a controller and the best is nowhere near as large as it is for the KB & M.

I love both though, completely different experiences.

So you are happy to settle for something not as good as long everyone is forced to use it?

That means nothing on the grand scale of things, For instance. This time around, I've seen nothing on PC come close to uncharted 1 or 2, MGS4, God of war 3. You can all disagree thats fine, but thats why its subjective to say which is the "best gaming platform"

"Not as good" I have no problem sitting and playing any FPS game on console there's no crippling inability to play by using a pad. But, I know i'd beable to play at a faster and more accurate pace on a PC. Headshots for instance, Much easier on a PC

I am not talking about available games, I'm talking about hardware capability.

An i9 with quad-fire (or tri-fire + some NV for PhysX) can do FAR more than the 360 or PS3 can, the fact that no developer has bothered to take full optimised advantage of that is neither here nor here. If the PC was THE ONLY platform for gaming then I'm pretty sure we would be seeing games that are able to do so much more than they currently do

See, you've made the mistake there of assuming that games are only about graphics. While I agree that PC Games can have better graphics, that's not actually changing the game experience, especially on multi-platform games.

So can you give me some examples of PC Games, aside from MMORPGs that are PC only because they are too big for a console? Fallout 3 was pretty big, that managed on a console just fine. Metal Gear Solid 4 had a lot of content, that managed just fine..... etc.

I don't play much in the way of PC Games anymore.
Why? Because I'd rather sit on the sofa, infront of a big TV, with a game that just works out of the box and updates itself, that doesn't require me to have certain hardware or to upgrade my machine, or driver incompatibles. Everyone has the same hardware, its a level playing field, in the case of the Xbox, most come with microphones so you can chat.

Finally, when I used to be a PC Gamer, I never played with anyone I knew in real life. With consoles, I can actually play with many of my real friends.

To me, console gaming is the best experience, and I'd argue that currently its the best its ever been.

Sure, I might not get graphics quite as top notch as the PC does, or have the superior aim that a keyboard and mouse does, but that's not an issue.

So as you can see, it's all subjective to the users personal opinion as to what they prefer, there is no, one better platform.

Shadowrun had cross platform gaming. The way the game was set up the difference between mouse and keyboard and controller was balanced somewhat. Was actually quite a fun game too.

Gaming experience is something that has nothing to do with the platform, you can replicate the gaming experience on any platform (given the correct input device)

But having one game with no AA on a console, and the same game with full AA, cool destructible environment effects including realistic smoke that is blown around by the wind, glass shattering effects that look like real life, items bouncing off walls, bodies and floors, bullets being affected by wind, and so on ... all this will mean that for the same game, with the same experience, the PC version will be much better

The power of the PC is in the hardware, hardware that is capable of doing far more than the consoles

PC as a platform is dieing.

The only games available for the PC now are cross platform ports from consoles. Even portal 2 is going to be cross platform and Valve were one of the last big PC exclusive game makers.

There are of course MMOs and RTS, but just look at the reaction to Activisions involvement in WOW and things are hardly rosey.

The only advantage PC gamers have over xbox gamers is a keyboard and mouse. Open up keyboard and mouse and it would be a level playing field.

yeah because games that concentrate on amazing visuals really last the test of time dont they ?

*cough* alan wake (Yawn !) *cough* crysis (yawn!)

I rest my case. The best games dont focus on the graphics, and thats why the best games have very little difference in IQ between console and PC.
