How I laughed

Would i swap the rumble feedback of firing a gun with a controller, for a more accurate mouse click? I wouldn't.

Would i trade lying on my bed/relaxed on a couch playing on my big tv, for higher res graphics, advanced physics whilst hunched over my desk with a mouse a keyboard? I wouldn't.

You can try and justify an i9 with 3x 480 gtx and custon loops, but no developer with a business in mind will try and create a game for a small percentage of people.

There are around 30m PS3's, 40m xbox 360's, that's where the market is and PC gamers need to get off their high horses and accept the fact that pc gaming is slowly dying.

You've obviously never heard of force feedback joysticks or steeringwheels for the PC

You've also obviously never heard of a wireless mouse or keyboard & 50" displays.

Where did i mention steering wheels or joysticks?

If you're so serious about spending the money on an awesome system to play your games, i think the person in question would never touch wireless keyboards or mouse, for fear of lag.

I've a wireless mouse and keyboard and don't have any issues in fact I see no difference in performance from before I had a wireless keyboard & mouse... cept I have to change the battery now and then.

I think irony he is pointing out is that one of the main arguments by PC Gamers has been that you can use the Keyboard & Mouse, because it's 'superior'. Yet you've just pointed out a PC control method the same as consoles, which doesn't use Keyboard and Mouse.

The clue is in the name "wireless Keyboard & Mouse"!

edit: Oh I see you're refering to the Joystick & steerring wheel part of my post well on all platforms I'm sure everyone will agree Joysticks work best for flightsims no matter what the platform and a proper steering wheel and accelerator setup work best for driving games for all else forcefeedback isn't needed and sometimes can be an annoyance. e.g I shoot a weapon on screen & in real life weapon shot in real life almost instant feedback and result. However... on console instant result yet about a minutes worth of feedback for one split second shot hardly realistic or neccesary!

Err.. nothing to with wireless keyboards, I'm referring to where he said he would rather play a Console FPS because you get force feedback/rumble through the game controller when you shoot.

Which was countered by you with, I quote:

"You've obviously never heard of force feedback joysticks or steeringwheels for the PC".

As I pointed out, the argument by PC Gamers has been that consoles are rubbish because you can't play a FPS with a keyboard and mouse, but you just recommended the same control method as a console.

This is perhaps off topic, but one thing i found horrific when playing cod on a console, was that it has an integrated aim bot when you double clicked the aim?? Says a lot about the platform to be honest.

whats so horrific about it ?

its designed for casual gamers who'se idea of a good read is a copy of nuts magazine. They arent interested in being good at the game, they just want to pick it up, play, and then maybe sell it on, put it down whatever.

I mean, what do you say to the people who play it on easy anyway ? playing the game on easy skill level makes it far easier than any aim assistance could.

You must be pretty skillful to use a force feedback steering wheel for an FPS :p

Console versus PC, both have advantages and disadvantages.

PC is capable of much better graphics, has a wider range of control options, allows for modding of games etc but... can cost an arm and a leg, especially if you always want to play the latest release on uber high res with all the bells and whistles enabled.

Consoles don't require constant hardware upgrades to play latest games as they are designed to run on the hardware, this makes it a cheaper alternative for most people in the long run.

You lose out on customization of games etc but for majority of people this is no big loss.

I own a PS3 and a PC, the PS3 hardly gets played as I like my FPS/RTS games and I find the game controller sucks for this, sure I could learn to use a pad but why should I?

If/when they start releasing more titles for PS3 that would allow the usage of mouse and keyboard (and the ability to remap keys!) I would quite happily use it more though.

There is lots horrific with it!!! I do get your point, but come on. Surely the point of the game is to play it. Not to get the console to play it for you...

They'd might as well stick a decent war movie in and sit still for a few hours.

Had to laugh at that idea, what muppet thought it would work?. Driving games, yeah it can work. Fighting games, perhaps. RPG games, not really. FPS games, hell no.

Had a bit of a chuckle at one part in the article

Perhaps we could have finally integrated the Xbox into the PC.

Considering there was no mention of it being an Xbox 360, the all it is, is a PC in a box :o fail

You need to read the edit in my post in it I state that force feedback in FPS games is badly implemented and pointless.

Why is it pointless? It adds a new dimension to the experience.

The only advantage a M/K has is speed. Playing with a pad is a more immersive experience.

I play all my PC FPS with the xbox pad now.

IF KB + mouse is so much better then how can you defend there being nothing wrong with a gamepad for FPS?

Replace 'so much better' with 'easier'.

I'm a big pc and console fps fan and like each control method for differing reasons. Anything twitchy that requires pin point aiming - unfortunately very few of these today - i'd pick a mouse. There are simply things you can't do with a pad. Anything slower paced or more immersion driven i'd take a joypad. Slowly taking aim, squeezing a trigger and feeling the rumble as bullets spit out beats clicking a mouse button any day.

Dude the fact that a split second shot translated to a second or so of feedback doesn't feel realistic to me at all if they want realism the controller should hit back with the true force & timing of a gunshot & it's recoil!
