How is everyone getting on in WoW TBC?

WoW is still top 10 in the charts so they've got a steady supply of new users I'm mean players.

Hard to say though, there's been no new servers since TBC but at the same time the population cap was raised by about 1000 on each server.

Does that mean the queues are any better? I can't remember if you migrated too, but the queues on Frostmane after most of the Dragonmaw horde moved were crazy, up to an hour at raiding times. I'm on a low pop server now, so I don't have the same problems any more.

*sigh* if it's only graphics your worried about then go look at the latest fps.

Although WoW is a ***** game with no *real* content other than grind ....

Calm down.

It's just something about WoW's graphics. I've never really liked them, it was the gameplay which kept me playing when everything was new and interesting, and i've had some really great times playing the game.

But I can't sit at a game for 6-8 hours a day when it looks so damn boring. It really needs an overhaul. Badly.

To be honest I like the WoW graphics. Ok they're basic but they're clean and they do the job. Runs nicely even when there's a crap load of people/mobs...etc on screen. And also I prefer the comic book/cartoon style to realistic.

I read this thread and thought:

"Yeah I'll give it a try, why not?"

I'm now horribly addicted and cannot stop playing. :(

I would be surprised if there's any substantial queues on any of the PVE or PVP servers now.

I've left the game for now. The only thing that kept me playing were the 40 man raid lolfests, but Blizzard took them away.

I always thought artistic direction and style was 100x more important than poly count or AA/AF, or how technically brilliant the engine was.

Hence I've never had a bad word to say about WoW's graphics. Whilst in general I'm not a fan of "cartoon" stylings, I'd take WoW's art and visuals over EQ2s or Vanguard's any day. Both of those products have much more to offer in the quality of their engine, but the visuals to me ended up bland and unexciting.

I'm a WoW fanboy and I still think the graphics look awful by today's standards. If they could update the graphics somehow the game would never die.

I agree wholeheartedly - I've heard people use the 'cartoon' term dismissively but I've personally always loved the artistic direction of the game. Many of the zones in WoW were gobsmacking at release and even now you can still get the odd moment where you just have to stop and look around to admire what they've done. All this and it runs perfectly acceptably in 1680x1050 with 4xAA on my ageing 6800 Ultra

Nah, graphics don't equate to longevity. If that was the case, George Lucas' new trilogy would be heralded as masterpieces, whilst his orginal films (you know, the good ones) would be largely gathering dust. But how many people still regard IV - XI as the best? I know I do.

What keeps people playing is almost entirely the gameplay and the challenge, along with any social elements like clans or guilds. Whilst graphics may initially provoke "aahs" and "oohs" from new players, the graphics will soon get overlooked if the game doesn't play well.

Incidentally, I only played WoW for a month and a bit. That had nothing to do with the graphics, and everything to do with my perception that it lacked complexity depth.

Who do I buy pots off in Auberdine? :)

Can't buy pots from NPCs. Either find them yourself or buy from the AH

Word of warning: Uninstall it now. Such a waste of time. I'm not saying games are a constructive manner to spend your time but WoW takes the biscuit.

I was away from WoW for a year and started back 2 months ago. I've gone from lvl 36 to 43 in that time but I'm starting to get bored with the relentless grinding. It hasn't helped not being able to find a decent guild, everyone's so serious on my server (Turalyon) and I can't put the hours in that most guilds want (though I'd got a game not a 2nd career :)). I have also bought TBC but I haven't installed it yet so I don't know whether to try it or sell it!

Sold my account for 200 quid, the pre-TBC end game instances were better than what's currently out (Naxxramas, MC, BWL were memorable times).

Lucky you got 300 quid for the Warlock ^^ I mean I got 200 at best, I had around 1000 shadow damage unbuffed but I waited 1-2 weeks and had no decent offers until 200 :(

Stopped playing shortly after getting to 70, subscription expired start of this month and I don't miss it at all. Hate the new rep grind rubbish and the "heroic" instance levels. Ghastly.

It's way too much grinding now, needing revered with most factions to get access to Heroics, just really can't bebothered.

Pre-TBC became all about grinding and it's gotten worse with the addition of TBC.
