How long does your PC take to SuperPI 1M !!!!!!

Hmmm... Perhaps?

I just loaded up Standard XP Theme and they are 95% identical, but there does seem to be a slight difference.

Forgive me on that... I never use the stock XP Theme you see...

I have used StyleXP and WBlinds, and funnily enough, I have used themes that make Windows XP look like Windows XP ( EH? ), but that theme is very, very close to stock XP Theme.

He's using Windows XP Professional x64 Edition, Evaluation copy (It's printed at the bottom right of his Desktop). Maybe that's why it's slightly different?

I doubt it.

I got XP64 on a couple of boxes in the LAN Room... I will check them out in a few, but those are also running the Classic Theme too, so ias I said, its been a hwile since I played ona PC thats got the awful XP theme on ... Even my Installation CDs start the PC up on Classic.

Theres always one that lets the side down isnt there???

Right...

RAM @ 166
HTT @ 4
CPU @ 230

They all do that... Even the NON-clockable ones.

Then we can talk.

If that dont work, you got yourself a naff Mobo my good friend.
im lost?

It seems just a tad slow.

Admittedly, My winchester 3200 gets 42s on stock, and I feel, that all thigns considered, the 3800x2 should have been a much better CPU, the fact is, its not. Ok, so its a good clocker, but then the winchester clocks further, so for most things, the Winchester is a better chip in my eyes...Dont give any stuff about this SSE3 rubbish, its not shown me anything that needs it, wants it, or anything?

Anyway, your CPU will overclock... Maybe by not much, but maybe by a fair bit, I dont know?

That will really depend on your Motherboard. This is not the place to talk about overclocking, so put a post in the correct section, tell us your PC specs and lets see if we cant get you below that 45second mark yeah?

28.5secs, not bad for a 3700.. Not quite on a par with the new Conroes though :(

I'll see what my 4200 gets now, can clock it to 2.8GHz...

Erm, thats the bog-standard XP Theme mate... I get the same anyway if I use it.

Listen... how have you managed 2.95 on your Opty mate?

I can stretch to 2.48Ghz before I need to play serious, but I seem to be at a max of 2.6.

I'm at 1.6 volts

With:

Cant quite remember FSB something like 320-330
CPU Milti : 9
Put the ram on the highest divider
HTT Multi : 2.5

Thats about it i think. :)

I seem to be half stuck... At about 280ish I start to get into difficulties with my Opty. Cant be the RAM as thats been to 300 no problems on stock volts, on that Mobo too! - I think that my Opty may simply be at its limit?

HTT @ 2.5 ???

I can go 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 obviously, but not halves?

Whats your CPU volts? I am a little iffy on overvolting the CPU until I know a "SAFE" limit really... Cooling is ok as I have my FX cooler on it, and air flow is very good, the CPU @ 2.5 is never over 40 even on full load. anyway, my volts are 1.4 I think? I will have to run up and check that.

OK, Ill do that when I get home from work. :)

Yea put the voltage to 1.45volts and when it get unstable up the voltage and so on. I doubt cooling is the problem as have an Arctic Freezer 64

Otherwise you chip just may have hit a wall.

Yeah a great big brick one.

I thought sod it, I just threw it in at 300 and it started to post and on the Memory check, it showed up

Memor

And then hung!

Ok, so it started up then eh?

I cant be bothered to clear the CMOS right now, so I have left it alone and now concentrating on the P4 again. The RAM in the P4 has so far gone to 235 which aint too bad, its only DDR2-400 so the P4 is clocking like a monster... 4.2Ghz cant be sniffed at I suppose... Trying for a sub-30 SuperPI on that before I kill it.

The Opteron however, I a ma smidge unimpressed by to be honest. I dont know what I was expecting, but I got it from the MM just the other day. I have never owned one, and I only got it cos well, now I have.

Its managed to run 100% stable at 2.48Ghz but 2.5 and there is always somethign there.... In fact, at 285FSB ( Whats that? 9x285=Cant be arsed doing the math ) I got a 58Second PI??? WTF? - I must not have let it boot up fully then maybe?

Anyway, The volts are currently at 1.55 however, I am using an MSI Neo2 Platinum ( Got 2 of these boards and I love them, but there is always that one extra feature that my DFI has, taht this does not... The DFI is 754 though! ) - and anyway, the CPU V's are always showing more than they are... CPUZ shows, 1.45v and so I cannot really see me going more without a custom BIOS.

I Think what I will do ( As long as I have not just killed it that is ) is take it back to 2.48Ghz, and touch it to 2.5 and just leave it there. This is fine as my other 939 Systems are all running 2.5 anyway, even the ones that go further cos I cant be bothered droppign to a 3xHTT ( WHY I dont know? )
