How Long Have You Off For Christmas

Finish this Friday, back to work 1st. We swap the bank holiday into Christmas week so that we get the week off by only using 2 days holiday. None of us are bothered about working New Year’s Day, it’s lovely and quiet :D

This Christmas is the first time in over 12 years where I have to work one of the days between Christmas and New Years, and even thou I'm off for two days I have to carry my laptop and work phone around with me just in case.

I suppose I should be greatful, there's been a load of redundancies just before Christmas and not replacing staff who have left. The only reason why I'm working this year is that there's been a internal movement in roles to cover for staff shortages.

I did have to work half a day for Christmas day once, didn't finish until 6pm and by the time I got home it was 7:30pm before I could start drinking... not too much as I was at work again on boxing day.

Only the days between

Leave work on Friday.
Drive to family/friends on Saturday
Do loads of driving
Come back knackered on 1st
Back to work on 2nd

Can't waste my holiday allocation as it's pretty much all allocated next year. I just mentally write Christmas off as "stressful" and look forward to the new year now

Off 25th / 26th then back.

Used to work somewhere that shut down for 3 weeks over Christmas but it always felt like a bit of a waste of my holiday allowance. A week would be nice.

Started a new job this month so working in between Christmas and New Year's. Hopefully I can work remotely and spend more time with my family when I fly back to the UK.
