How Long Have You Off For Christmas

We've mainly done it this way for childcare purposes, which is the main factor in deciding when 99% of my annual leave gets used nowadays.

Yes, it sucks doesn't it? The past 3 years, 90% of my annual leave has been spent either in hospitals or working around childcare closures. I hate holidays with a passion >_<

Seems like a few of you in this thread work for the council if you're getting 2 weeks off.

NHS admin here. I get the bank holidays off and working around those. Workload doesn't step down simply because it's Christmas.
Nope. I work in healthcare (admin) and most of my work isn't urgent after the middle of the month so my boss doesn't have much of an issue letting me have 2 weeks off.

In fact, I've only ever worked over Christmas in one job and that was only once.

Finished on Friday 15th, back in on 2nd January. I booked this week as annual leave (I do every year) because I don't want to deal with people moaning/asking about stuff that isn't important just before Christmas.

The office is closed between Christmas and New Year anyway, so may as well make it a two week holiday. However, this year I've managed to test positive for Covid (first time ever) despite only being around people in the office last week. Very fortunately, my worst symptoms haven't stopped me from doing bits and pieces around the house and obligatory gaming.

Not long enough.

Got to go in for two hours tomorrow... nothing to do but gaffer wants us in, in case some random wants something doing for peanuts, back on 2nd.

Finish at 3pm on Christmas Eve.
Back in at 10:00am Boxing Day. As I changed departments this year. I’m the only code checker in the building that day. Got ****loads to check plus the longer life stuff we normally check on Monday.

I don’t want any customers coming up to me or my colleagues to say it’s a disgrace that you are open today. Erm then WTAF are you doing in here if you think it’s a disgrace?

In all my jobs - including office jobs, I always had to go into work on non bank holiday and weekend days. So this year’s calendar- I would work 27-29 Dec.

Got NYD off. It’s the day with the least amount of sales. One year, a cash office colleague told me that NYD we took just 11% of an average of whatever the day of the week it fell on takings over the previous year. So what’s the point?

On my way home from the works Christmas lunch. That's me off now until the 2nd. So glad to have the time off. I'm quite lucky because my manager has 2 young kids and has used all of his holidays throughout the year, so I was originally expecting to work at least one day next week, but now have the whole week off.

Yeh, bad planning if you have to go shopping on NYD.

Just about the last thing I'd want to be doing.
