How long is your commute?

45 miles around 1hr in the morning and 45 minutes coming home.
If you don't mind me asking what do you spend on petrol in an average week?

We can make a guess - nothing since he drives a diesel. But on diesel, 90 miles a day = 450 miles a week. Assume 40mpg from the 2.5 V6 TDI is 11.25 gallons which is 51.1 litres which at £0.92 would cost £47 a week (~£2,500 a year).

Too long

About 15 miles on the bus, takes between 1 and 2 hours depending on what time I have to go. Thats a 5 minute walk to the bus stop, 10 minutes waiting for the bus, 20-40 minutes then get another bus which takes 40-70 minutes then a 10 minute walk.

(College btw)

Takes me about 45 - 50 mins door to door. About 15 miles or so at a guess. Thats a train into London Waterloo (30 mins) then walk from Waterloo to Holborn (15 mins or so)

All in all I'd say that an hour each way isn't bad at all. What are the pros and cons of each job? Thats probably the best way to weigh it up!

Roughly 1hr 30mins+ each way for uni. On early days, leave house at 7.05, get bus at 7.15 (first bus in the morning btw), get to train station at 7.30, train comes at 7.50, get to Glasgow at 8.30 and then 10 / 15 min walk to uni.

Coming home is worse, lectures end on the hour and my train is one an hour at xx50. End of lecturer -> getting home = 2 hours.

Go me! :(

I'm guessing you live on the Weymss Bay line and are at Strathclyde Uni?

bout 1.5 miles and approx 10 mins by car (I get a lift), I love it, I leave the house at 740 and arrive back about 1615. Means I can go to the gym, get home and be cooking dinner before my girlfriend gets home.

About 10 seconds. :p

Such are the joys of being able to work from home. If I decide to go into the office, it's only 35 minutes away (walking - never owned a car). I can do 99% of things from home though.

I have a 1 hour bus journey to get to my school. The time it takes to get back home depends on the time of day - usually 40 - 50 mins, but a 5pm coming home usually means about an hour and a half. Unless we have the maniac bus driver, who takes about half the time :D

I get chauffeured to work in a luxury coach, feet up, time to read a book, listen to some tunes or catch up on missed sleep.
Takes around 1 hour each way :)

Have an interview for a placement in a few weeks, will involve 26 miles each way.

Calculated it to be £1700 for the year in fuel.

Shouldn't think that sort of driving will be too much of a chore, really.

My new job which I start in a few weeks is also 26 miles each way, most of which is motorway driving. In the past my commute to work used to be 70 minutes each way that was a killer.
