How many GPU's have died on you?

ti4600
9800pro
6800gt
8800gt
ati4850

quit a few quid gone up in smoke if u add it altogether :(

I have only had 1 GPU fail on me, a Sapphire 9800SE soft-modded to 9800pro.

It lasted a good few years and when it did go I bought another IIRC from the MM on here :)

Not a single one in the last 20 years. Actually, i've never had a single piece of hardware fail on me since building my own PC's in the early 90's.

1900XT and nearly 2900XT, but replacing thermal paste sorted it and it lasted another 4 years :D

You used a 2900xt for four years?

Jeez you poor poor man. I feel like i should offer you a hug and a cup of warm soup.

I had the misfortune of owning the 2900xt.

I had an Nvidia 9800GX2 die within the warranty period which also raises questions.
We all know that new models appear very rapidly. My current Zotac GTX295 has a 5 year warranty and is now about 3 years old. If it decided to stop working anytime soon i doubt i would get a new replacement as it is well mout of date and the retailer would not give me the current equivalent do to the cost differences.

I had all this issue when my 9800GX2 died and was told that i would only get a certain percentage in refund due to wear and tear.

Say for example it cost me £350 new and it failed two years later they would only give me say £150 towards the cost of a replacement, so much for warranty.

None of the cards i've used or fitted into other computers in the house have gone wrong. (although the fan on the x800 in my parents pc is rattly but still working)

Gone through a lot of cards too. (italics are mine, the rest i've fitted to other systems)

Cirrus Logic ISA card
S3 Virge/DX
Voodoo 3 2000 pci
Voodoo 3 3000 agp
Radeon 7500

Hercules 3D prophet 4500 Kyro II
Radeon 9250
Geforce 4 Ti 4200
Radeon 9800 XT
Radeon X800 GT
Radeon x850 XT PE
Radeon x1650 pro
Radeon HD 3870
Radeon 6950

Radeon 6850

All i've had go wrong are power supplies and optical drives. Although my X-fi started outputting poor sound quality so i'm guessing that its also had it.

The list of dead cards that I can remember:

Riva TNT2 Ultra
GeForce 4 MX 440
Radeon 9800 Pro
Radeon X800 XTPE
Geforce 7600GT
Radeon HD 3870
GeForce 7950 GX2
GeForce 9800 GX2
GeForce 8800 GTS

Mostly nVidia cards but I've had a few ATI/AMD cards die on me too. The X800 XTPE was the best one though. Blew me away with its full copper cooling and blue high RPM fan. Got me thinking "woah this thing is amazing, this should last a while". 3 months later it died

1 - an ati r9500non-pro. blew up the first time i switched the pc on. A capacitor went bang and blew a hole through the pcb. Other than that, not a problem with any other card i've owned.

Just had my little brothers 8800gt die (VRAM issue as it artifacts).

Had to give him my back up web browsing card (7600gt). I gave him the 8800gt i had it for years.. great little card!!

Just one. My GeForce 5900 flashed with 5950 Ultra bios back in the day...lasted about 2 years then started throwing up permanent artefacts.

Oh those were the days :(
