How many GPU's have died on you?

Out of the 15 cards I have owned over the years only ONE has died
I had a 8800GTX that had an aftermarket cooler attached one of the stuck
on memory chip coolers fell off ( crap thermal glue) causing the ram to fail.

I observe ESD handling precautions when working with static sensitive devices
so most of my hardware lives a long and happy life.

Thankfully since the EU forced us to remove lead from solder they are now getting
a better handle on things and reliability is starting to get better , only took them a few years ........

One Gainward GeForce Ti 4200 Golden Sample - it got pink artifacts all over the screen after 2 months use. Gainward CS were awful, didnt respond to any of the emails/letters I sent them askign for an RMA number (double/triple checked the addresses were correct). Total 100% ban on all Gainward products from me and friends is the result.

Only one, Ati 9800pro, served me well for years then got packed in a box when i upgraded. Few years later i put it in one of my kids pc's and she played Farcry, started getting artifacts then died.

I tried baking it back to life but overdid it, most of the components fell off :D

I had two Point of View 7900GT's that died on me back in 2007, and a slightly dodgy XFX 4870 that would lock my system up in various games if it ran at the stock speeds in 2010.

Plan to upgrade this year so hopefully my current card lasts until then! :D

In 14 years i have only had 1 die on me, a Leadtek GeForce 4 Ti4400.

List of cards i've had:

1. RAGE IIc 4MB
2. Riva TNT 16MB
3. GeForce 2MX 32MB
3. GeForce 4 Ti4400 128MB
4. Radeon 9800 128MB
5. GeForce 8800GTX 768MB
6. GeForce GTX 480 1GB
7. Radeon HD 5870 1GB
8. GeForce 580 1.5GB

**** ..... I had been reading this thread thinking that I've been lucky.... then playing Skyrim yesterday I had my first game sieze for a few seconds with the milisecond sound loop.... then the screen signal stopped....

and now windows does not recognise the main card in my xfire set-up... I've had to plug the monitor into the 2nd card for output to tell.

Going to have to drain my loop today and remove and work out whether its dead or not.

My 480 in my SLI died after saying that I didn't need to upgrade this generation because 480SLI will beat amd's offerings and probably nvidias too.
