How many hours aday do you work and sleep..

I probably slept under 6 hours each night on average for 18 years.....I still sleep about 6 hours. Some people are different and as long as you get 5-8 hours a night you ain't going to die any sooner than someone sleeping 7-9 hours a night. I was reading somewhere that too much sleep is just as bad as not enough, if not worse.

I would have thought you of all people would be able to see through the fog with regards to this!

Getting enough sleep is very important, but you might just not have noticed the damage or the way in which it has been hindering you all these years. Ask anyone who exercises regularly and they'll tell you about the huge importance of sleep. If you're consistently not getting enough sleep, it follows that any sort of repair your body needs to do will be hindered.

The "getting too much sleep just as bad" thing is typical dumb logic from studies, whereby people who slept more happened to die younger and have health problems. It is far more likely that the reason someone is sleeping way over 8 hours is because of health complications and/or poor lifestyle, rather than the health complications arising from the increase in sleep.

Work
SUN OFF
MON OFF
TUE OFF
WED OFF
THU 8:00 - 21:00 SLEEP 00:00 - 06:00
FRI 9:00 - 22:00 SLEEP 00:00 - 06:00
SAT 10:00 - 23:00 SLEEP 00:00 - 06:00

Sometimes a little more sleep sometimes a little less, depends if I get kept up by X-Com :p

usually I do 8.5hours each weekday but in the past month i've been doing 10 or 10.5 hours a day. I keep telling myself to sleep earlier but its always 1 til 7.30.

From May - July just before buggaring off, averaging 10-12 hour days with about 6/7 hours sleep a night. Contracted for 7.5, with no overtime pay.

It gets to a point where you can't switch off, struggle to sleep, and even dream about work!

Define what enough sleep is?

The point being that there is no set amount and it is entirely subjective...quality sleep doesn't necessarily mean longer sleep periods.

What is this sourcery, assume its one of those smartphone apps? Does it actually detect when your awake/asleep or just when you turn it on/off

Could even say what my averages for work or sleep is, there's to much variation.
Anything for 30mins to 12hours sleep and anything from about 2-14hours work.

When it comes to this whole sleep nonsense...

I do a lot of exercising, and my 6ish (or sometimes less) hours of sleep has never bothered me. Not everyone is the same, you just find out what works for you. For me, less is more.

Have to agree with this - 6-7 hours sleep and forced to wake to an alarm = feel like death warmed up all day, sleeping naturally I sleep a little over 8 hours and feel great (absolutely can't see where sleeping 6-7 hours as a normal thing would be better for my personal health), I can quite well see how sleeping less than that or more could have a long term detrimental effect.

Weekdays it's pretty much 8hrs work, 8hrs play, 8hrs sleep :-)

Weekend is 8hrs sleep, 16hrs sleep :-)

I did think I worked more.. but according to google latitude the average for the past months is 36hrs a week :p

my contracted hours are 35 so not bad. I do log on for a couple of hours from home when it is ultra busy otherwise I chill and study.

Sleep varies between 6-8hrs

When lived and worked in London my sleep was around 4-6hrs a night and, my working hours were 7am - 8pm regularly.. hooray for the North :)
