How many others do you live with?

Just me & my partner - how I like it.

Although she does have 2 kids from a previous relationship and whilst they are grown up and living elsewhere, we rarely have a full week where we don't see one or the other.

I have a lovely one bed, looking over London's skyline. The development is like a 5* hotel - valet parking, spa/gym/pool, cinema, skyline panoramic Bar.

I've done the house share thing, but once I could afford it I moved into my own place. In London you share because you have to financially, not out of choice.

I think its fine to house share between 18-28, while at university and at the beginning of your career (the transitionary stages) but after this, it's time to grow up.

Bit more subtle.... you're getting better

I earn circa £130,000 per year.. im 28

*COME AT ME BRO*

Never have. But never say never!

Gotta be honest, I've been tempted.. When you see 10k per month hit your account, a bag of cocaine and hooker is tempting! lol

Does not being able to live with others really make you grown up?

I'm going from living with my gf in a 1 bed flat in Glasgow to living in a 4 person house share in Cambridge :o. Will be the biggest house share I've lived in (sans living with parents)

Wife 2 kids 2 dogs but I have lived solo in a flat in the US before and prior to that in house shares with people. As I got older I wanted more privacy until children robbed me of it entirely ;)

I live with my wife, 4 kids, mother-in-law, and various pets (cats, fish, hamsters, rabbits, guinea pigs).

That's a nice apartment, my friend has a 2 bed apartment in the Heron - with similar facilities. I know he pays in the region of £7k a month for that. If I was single, it's definitely where I'd be living.

Is £550 per day a good rate these days? I'll have to review what I pay the contractors who work for me if it is, as I'm overpaying the buggers...

I was thinking the same thing. Lived with my ex in a purchased flat for 4 years.

I now have the choice of buying further out of London, or in a crappier area of London, than I would like, or renting.

I chose to rent as the location is great, the flat is great, and I can still save a fair amount. I'll look in to buying again when the next long term relationship comes around, doing it solo in London is tricky if you aren't earning megabucks.

As for zegna, that's all well and good, but you would need to pay me to ever live in Tower Hamlets again. :p

Looks like it's less than that, from a quick Google. It'll be somewhere between £2300 and £7000. But it's built into your rent, so essentially you do pay it, no?

Something like that, no idea tbh.

It's probably built into the rent, but keep in mind in these areas house prices are so high (650k+) that mortgage costs (at say 3.5%) + service charge are about double the equiv. rental costs.

Ha! completely agree, it's an absolute hole if you walk the wrong way for 2 mins. Still haven't gotten over the docklands ASDA.. Always have to check googlemaps to ensure I haven't teleported to Pakistan.

Looking to move in with the missus within the next 6 months.. probably st johns wood, which is a bit of step up.

I wouldn't... would be very dull at the weekends. A single person spending spend 7k a month in rent should probably look at West London.

Good rate for what? Completely depends on the skill set - for one of the dev teams at my place with guys working on aggregation & execution software... they can end up at clients at rates up to double that figure. (and sometimes subsequently sued by the company for breaching their non-compete agreement.)

I'd want it close to work - the key would be walking distance to/from the office.

Agreed, £7k pm is big, big money. That's golden triangle money - Your friend should be living next to the celebrities with that sort of income!

Just me, the GF and our baby.

Lived on my own for a bit and after getting used to being on my own I loved it. Did what I wanted when I wanted :)

Me and my gf. Lots of people living alone. Sounds grim.

Love living on my own, I really do. No one to fight over the tv with, I can do the dishes when I want, wander round in whatever state of dress I want, nobody nicking my food, or running up massive bills.

It's great - honest! :)
