Baguettes can't spawn soldiers.

:( I knew I'd got it wrong when I hit SUBMIT.
Soldiers from a baguette - what was I thinking?

I just can't believe that people can't get this simple formula.
If I asked my wife for two chicken sandwiches I would get two rounds of bread.
I wouldn't expect 8 rounds of bread or one round cut into two.
1 round = 1 sandwich.

Just try this experiment.
Shout to your mothers/girlfriends/wifes that you want 4 sandwiches and to bring you the bread and butter to make them and lets see who's not in the real world.

Now this could start another debate -
Is bread and butter a sandwich?

I think it's one of those agree to disagree moments. There is no right or wrong answer, it just depends how you look at it, and what sort of mentality you have.

I guess if I saw a plate for the first time and there were 2 halfs of a sandwich I may say there are 2 sandwiches. However, if I were to make the sandwich and cut it in half, I'd be happy to call it 1 sandwich cut in half. It's all to do with how you percieve things and in what circumstances you do.

Dave, not even I can eat 4 sandwiches. Silly example.

Well maybe ElvisFan can with his 2foot baguette and 10 sausages.

Heres another question, say you bought for lunch one of those sandwich packs from Marks and Spencers - the big ones with 4 "triangles" in. Later someone asked you what you had for lunch. What would you say? I'd say a sandwich.

Blackadder - I have four sandwiches and I take two away, how many do I have?
Baldrick - some sandwiches

The answer is - some sarnies.

Meh, I still don't get this 'rounds' nonsense. I could understand, say, a round of toast if it involved making toast for everyone involved, but that number would obviously vary depending on people involved! Likewise the only way a 'round' of bread could be correct was if it was providing a piece of bread for everyone involved,

I therefore declare any reference to a slice of bread as a 'round' to be nonsensical in my eyes, and I think most here would agree!

Oh dear me  .. We went to Desmo's Parents house earlier for the afternoon and had the great sandwich debarcle there :p

I conclude that if you are making it yourself or buying it from a sandwich shop then it is ONE sandwich but if you are eating a small triangle from a buffet etc then that small triangle is also one sandwich

The Great Sandwich mystery = solved ;)

He proved that 1 equalled 2, not that 2 equalled 1 ;)
If 1 = 2 then by sheer logic and algebraic rearrangement 2 = 1. WWhat do you know anyway you think that 2 x 0.5 = 2 :)

Surely the great purveyors of sandwiches (being bakerys of course) calling a sandwich cut into 2 halves '1 sandwich' as opposed to 2, is proof enough to provide an answer to this?

If I went round someones house, and they offered me a sandwich, and they gave me two crubs with a fragment of ham in it, I'd be slightly miffed.
"Aye lad, but I made 52 small sandwiches. Going down t'pit?"
