It's strange you know; i think the sandwich can only be '1 sandwich' when the mysteric doughey bread is surrounded by an unbroken ring of the crust.

It seems almost, that when this crust is broken, the sandwich becomes two.

:o  :o

No but I may buy him a round of Sandwiches and I'd get called tight it it was one of your "northern" half sandwiches.

Hah! I think you've cracked it there.

Cutting something in half and thinking they've got two of them obviously appeals to their 'when I were a lad' side.

Tough oop Narth.

:/ more of this 'rounds' nonsense :o

I'm sticking with Cem's point - it's 2 sandwiches, if you have 2 sarnies on a plate and you ask someone to 'pass us a sandwich' they don't give you both!

Two.

If you were at a buffet, and there was a sign up saying maximum 1 sandwich per person, you'd take one portion regardless of how they were sized.

Ok, we have identified another north/south divide. Where is the line in england that one sandwich (right) becomes two (wrong, just wrong)?

What about WelshWales and Jockland.

(Piggy, I promise to get to a meet soon, would love that beer!)

One word dude .. Swansea !! :D

oh and it's ONE sarnie in Welsh Wales as well ;) .. I have dual nationality so I can fly the flag for the Welshies and the Southerners :p

Actually I've found the South-west (being Cornwall, the proper south-west...) to be remarkably Northern in common-sense wise, or perhaps it's cos the mother is from Leeds.

Either way, 2 sandwiches is right.

But they're not immediately two pencils, you don't sharpen sandwiches do you?

Of course not, but they are still immediately two pencils, what would you describe one as that isn't sharpened? You can buy em in shops & I can give you a hint if you like :p

Oh god, Piggy is on the phone to her mum now to ask....god only knows what the answer might be

Poll?

I would ask if the northerners would call a baguette cut in half a la sandwich shop two baguettes but I reckon they would class that as foreign muck. ;)

Would do Swansea, family commitments first unfortunately :(

I'd say two.....and I have confused nationality so I'm not getting involved with the 'Southern or Welsh' thing :p
