I have various jeans, in different states of fading, I like them that way so I choose to wash them once a year maybe, in-between I use the freeze clean method.

I put them in a bag, and freeze them for 24 hours, then hang them to come back to room temp, and wear again.

Can't really say on a timescale basis as it depends how often I wear them..... generally I wash every 4-5 wears....

Just when they are dirty or smell really. Jeans are the one item that don't get washed very often - the nice indigo runs! :(

when they get loose n greasy, which for me is like 2-4 weeks. i must say a most resiliant garment :)

Every week or so depending how often I used them. I only have cheap jeans so if I had any proper ones they wouldnt get washed so often but cheap ones dont really matter.

Um, like everything, after every wear. Why wouldn't you?

^never had a pair of levis :(.

Sorry but that is just weird, unless you roll around in mud all day or sweat so profusely that your clothes smell after one wear.

Otherwise there is no reason to wash jeans so often unless you know you have been in a dirty environment.

For me, around every 2 weeks unless I get food or drink on them or they are visibly dirty.

every thing gets one use then washed i still find it odd when people reuse a towel a few times before washing it

WTF... that is a serious case of OCD you have there old chap.

I work with kids, so if my jeans get dirty then I'll obviously wash them, otherwise they'll get washed when I've worn them like 3 times.

What? See I find that odd. Towels will get worn out much quicker that way. Mine get washed about once a fortnight. Granted it's only me using them but still, after every use is just a waste of energy and water.

My reason for asking the question was because when I bought a new pair of jeans on Thursday, the man in the shop started telling me how to wash them. I replied "people wash their jeans?" He smiled and said something along the lines of "oh good, you don't wash them, that's how it's supposed to be". We then had a discussion about washing/not washing jeans and he said that it's less hassle to give people basic washing instructions than try and explain why jeans shouldn't be washed unless absolutely necessary.

The 501s I'm wearing now haven't been washed since I got them which is just over seven months and the new pair I bought last week won't be washed either unless they absolutely need it.

They don't smell, they're not disgusting and the only way you'd know they haven't been washed is if I told you. Which I just have!

I've had my latest pair of Levi's since November, yet to wash them. If they smell funky they get aired out, if they get stained or soiled I spot wash them.

Washing them is rumored to be (from the few articles that went flying round a while back) detrimental to them and the labels/care advice do suggest to do so infrequently.

I'd say on average my 'work' jeans get washed once every two months or so (spot washing them just isnt possible as they are used for DIY/digging/building etc).

I try and spot clean mine where possible. My current pair have been washed once - a big pot of yoghurt fell off the shelf in a supermarket and exploded all over them. I could have spot-cleaned them, but I was being lazy. They weren't expensive anyhow (Crew Clothing out of TK Maxx, so probably cost me less than £30).

Jeans are typically part of my daily wear and I work in a machine shop so I make them last 3 to 5 days unless they get really dirty or I stink them out. The pair I have on now I wear after work and on weekends and I don't recall them going in the wash yet and I've had them since Xmas.
