How old were you when you got your first PC?

ZX Spectrum, around 1982. I used to love writing little routines in Basic. I can vaguely remember coding away when Cliff Thorburn hit his 147 at the World Championship.

Random [Access] Memories. :)

I was given my dad's old work 286 when I was quite young can't remember specifics now - spent many hours in Quick BASIC (QB45) and mid 90s I saved up and bought an Acorn A3010.

1997 or so had a P166MMX system when I was about 16 but it was the P3 500 system I bought in 1999 which was the first PC I bought with my own earned money from my first job which feels more like my first PC.

In 1999 when I was 18 and had my first full time job, bought a Packard Bell with a P3 450, but quickly updated the integrated graphics to a Voodoo 3 2000 for Quake 2 and Unreal Tournament goodness (the difference from the integrated ATI Rage Pro was epic at the time).

* 1981: I was 8, dad bought me a Commodore VIC-20
* 1986: I was 13, dad bought me a Commodore 64
* 1997: I was 24, and bought my first PC (Cyrix 166, 256MB RAM, 1.2GB HDD)

I would have been 14 or 15 when I got my first Personal Computer - ZX Spectrum 48k - in the mid-1980s
My first PeeCee was a second hand IBM PS/2 (I still have the keyboard), which I got some time in my early 20s.

We got our first BBC in the early 90s. The very first game I played was Astroids. I remember having to put a tape in to a cassette player to run a game. It took ages to load as the lines went across the screen making a picture of the game. Such a great time.

After that it was an IBM that I played Wolfenstein 3d and Blake stone on. I ws blown away by the graphics and game play. Absolutely loved it

Mid 1980`s but it was a family PC, i didnt get my own PC untill i was a teenager in the mid 1990`s and it was a dell laptop. Darn thing still works lol, that was back when dell made good machines

I was 38 in 1990. 80286-12.5 mhz, 1mb ram, 40mb storage, 14 in Vga monitor, Dos 5. Approx cost £900.

Bought my first PC at 19 during my first year at Uni in 1989.

Amstrad PC1512 with 512KB of RAM and a 32MB hard disk which cost an extra £280. Graphics were either via CGA with 4 colours or Amstrads own graphics which I think had 16.

17 back in 1996, used my college grant to buy a second hand Compaq 486 sx 25mhz, 4mb ram, 300mb hard drive and 15" monitor. It was Doom that finally got me pc gaming.

I was 22 when I bought my first PC in 2002.

First PC we "had" at home was back in 93 when I was 13, it was actually my sister's company laptop (386 - 33 or 36MHz, 2MB RAM and 80MB HDD). She had a desktop in the office so only took it with her if she was going somewhere overnight.

I've had Commodore 64's and Amiga's before getting a PC but I was 25 and bought a AMD 1200 from a competitor (who I'm surprised to see are still going). I'd been working in my first graduate job for 3 months and bought it so I could play Jumpgate MMO over dial up. Heady days.

I was probably about 7 when I got a ZX Spectrum 128k. Got an Amiga 600 when I was about 9 or 10.

It wasn't til I was 21 when I got my first Windows PC, a 2.4GHz P4 back in 2003.
