I'm trying to buy my nephew a birthday present for his 7th Birthday in a week.

His parents are buying him a Wii, a DS and a bike (along with however many other gifts)

I asked him what he wants and he said he would like an Iphone like his Dad's. Or, if not, he would settle for the Ipod touch.

An IPHONE?!?! Ipod touch?!?!

This kid will be 7.

I may be showing my age but at 7 I would have been happy with some lego.

I still have no idea what to buy him but I am trying to stay away from technology for him (which is hard)

any ideas??

He does not need another 'games' device if he is getting a Wii and DS.

Maybe get him an iPod Nano for music and a game for his Wii or DS?

Buy him a Zune.

don't even get me started on how spoilt he is anyway ....

not that they are even particularly well off but it just seems 'the thing to do' now (for some anyway)

Is he a single child? One of my Cousins is a single child and gets anything he wants. He got a Motorcross bike a year or so ago even after being told it's an expensive hobby and something you should stick to unless you want to waste a lot of money riding for a month and getting bored of it. Pretty sure he hasn't rode it for months now

What would he do with an iPhone? Text his mates when they're watching Thomas the Tank Engine? :p

Get him Lego. Meccano if he's smart, else K'NEX or those magnetic sticks and balls that it's killing me that i can't remember the name of :p

Bloody hell!

When I was 7 (in 1985), I probably got some Lego, Simon Says and perhaps a Transformer and I thought I was doing pretty well to get those.

I remember reading a Napster-related forum as far back as 2001, and even back then, one of the kids (aged 13) was bragging how he got given a PC for Christmas O.o

Get him a Soccer ball or something out doorsy, see if you can beet the strangle hold of technology!:)

If not get him a PS3, The wii is **** :p

Sounds like he's getting enough tbh, spoilt much? A Birthday card will therefore suffice as any present you buy him will be unable to compete with aforementioned gifts.

They also have an 18 month old son as well. But he doesn't need a lot lol

Jesus, the only time I'd ever get a games console would be at christmas and that would be shared with my brother.

I wasn't given a mobile phone until I was 13. No way in hell my kids will be spoilt like that. They would be barely lucky to get a CD player!
