I thought that was to stop rattles from the car's bodywork due to bass, not quieten the music for others :D

Doing that in it's self makes a differnce, Bass tranfers so well from inside cars, because of the vibrations of the body work, the bass resinates through the bodywork, and comes out at the saem volume if not louder as it is inside the car.

Sound deadening stops the vibration thus greatly reducing the resination of the bass on the cars body, which reduces the noise heard outside the car.

That is what i always understood sound deadening to do, stops vibrations, which in ALL cases, Vibrations are what generate sound, less vibrations = less noise. :D

my humble opinion on the subject

sure.. there are some people who in my opinion waste thousands on cars to do what i percieve to be silly things.. but if it keeps them out of trouble.. why not just leave them to it... recently there was a massive gathering on the carpark where I work on a bank holiday weekend.. must have been 3-400 cars there... now.. the people there were just walking round... enjoying looking at the other cars there.. causing no harm whatsoever.. however the police ask them to move on .. now.. whilst they are doing this.. they are also grabbing them for doing 31 in a 30... whilst this is happening however... theres probably a burglary/mugging/assault occuring somewhere that they will trundle along to in a few hours time if they can be bothered. The state of this country is unnacceptable at the moment... if the police wont let them group in carparks off the road then where can they go... they go on the roads and they get moaned at.. they go to another carpark and they get kicked off... sure as eidolon has stated they have their small numberplates and led washerjets.. but lets be honest.. thats not really all that bad is it? they are in my opinion in the most area kids with not enough money to get 'classic' cars and thus get themselves a car which has plenty of after market parts for and they try and make it individual... leave them to it is my arguement

Agree totally with what lopez said. And yeah sure there are some chaps with novas around here with loud exhausts - So what. Their car is their hobby. They have changed their car to make it individual to them.

They arent the guys standing somewhere shouting abuse at old people or stealing things/mugging people.

I have my music loud when I'm driving somewhere but through town I turn it down.

People are very quick to judge someone as a boy racer, ok so some people are boy racers but a lot are car enthusiasts. People meet up at our local asda/tesco and sit and talk but thats all they are doing, having a chat. No loud music or abuse, no running people down and they do drive considerately around the carpark.

As for cutting people up and not being bothered, sorry but I get that happen to me too much by people who just dont care or old people who pay no attention and its very ....... annoying to say the least.

You all seem to be forgetting that playing loud music in a car is illegal as it distracts other road users.
You're having a laugh, right?

Please don't tell me for one second you actually believe what you posted there.

What do you do when an Ice Cream van goes past? Swerve onto the pavement and dive for cover!? Or perhaps lose concentration and plummet down a ravine?

LMAO!

I dont see the problem with car enthusiasts. I don't condone them racing round streets and mucking about but I don't see that we should all be tarred with the same brush.

Funniest thing I have read all day mate, nice 1 :D I think people are making these legal issues up as they go along :p

I think most points have now been covered in this thread, the outcome being:

Stop stereo-typing so many people based on one bad experience.
