How To Make Sure Crossfire Is Working?

Having just started running crossfire was very happy/relieved to find this thread.

Looks to answer a lot of the ?'s I had AND some I had not thought of.

LtMatt - my thanks, very much appreciated :)

Would vote for this to be stickied !

Thanks and it is already stickied at the top of the forums under the thread '** Useful links to popular threads and resources **'. :)

Also, don't be a tit like me and try to play BF4 in borderless mode. Forgot about the Whole Fullscreen for crossfire thing.[/QUOTE]

Forgive me for being a bit thick, but what exactly is the whole full screen for crossfire exactly mean.…...cheers

Hey mate. Wondered if you wouldn't mind taking a peek. Cheers for your help so far.

Would you say that this looks ok. Current clocks are 1000/1400 and it seems to be running ok so far. I know BF4 is a huge CPU hog, but some times i barely get over 50fps on low at 1440p, it all just seems a bit bizzare. should my minimum fps be that low?

Do you mean in BF4 or Unigine Valley? Your cpu might be holding those 7970's back a bit so if you can overclock it further than should help for now. Once Mantle comes you'll be laughing though as your cpu will see a big boost from that.

The low minimum fps bug in Unigine is nothing to worry about. Happens fairly often to me on the first run through. Run it again and it normally comes in at a much higher figure. Your scores maybe look a tad low, but that could be the cpu.

Perfect, just wanted to make sure i was barking up the right tree. BF4 does use a fair amount of CPU, 60-70%, but the GPU usage never really goes above 65%, so i dont think its the CPU limiting it, i would just expect more usage and more frames, its playable though, guess i will just wait for mantle.

What in game settings are you using for BF4?

I did have it set to Ultra, low FPS, so i had a custom setting of High on everything, No AA, no Post processing and the bottom one if off also.

Even if i chuck it down to all low, it still rarely goes over 60Fps with drops to mid 20s. The settings don't seem to change the max FPS, just the frequency of the droops.

I managed to get mine running stable at 4.7ghz (with turbo function on)but I run @ stock now.

I don't have the crossfire option under performance! Why would that be?

Cat version: 13.11
Driver version: 13.25.18

Ehhh this is embarrassing then, do I have to have the bridge installed even for the 7990? In my defence this is my first dual GPU setup, not to mention AMD card.:p

I've got 2 x 290s, and very often when I boot up the PC crossfire won't work. I get like 7FPS in the BF4 menu, but if I run the game in Window mode it runs on one card just fine.

A reboot always solves the problem, but is this common? If so, how can I fix it?

Ok i didn't realise you have a 7990. Its normal, you don't have an option to enable/disable crossfireX with the 7990. If you wish to disable crossfire for a specific title you need to create a profile for the game in question using CCC and disable it there. I will need to update this guide to reflect that info.

The 7990 does not have a crossfire setting, only found out by reading the the great advice in this thread. I have the same issue, but it works fine. Just enable the crossfire icon in your task bar and check afterburner has both gpu`s running when playing a game.
