*** How to obtain a bike license ***

Mod 1 attended and passed this morning. In and out within 10 minutes. 2 Minors, both for emergency stop(will cover in a minute)

Speed for the swerve avoidance and said emergency stop, Bear in mind 50kmph required, 60 and 65 :O Examiner said my emergency stop could;ve been quicker. I think there's the reason why :p

Haha, that's what happens when you've been riding a while, 40mph feels like 30mph :D

Congrats. I presume this is for your full 'big boys' licence from an A2?

Got my mod 1 booked for the 20th, can't wait.
Hate the manual handling part though but the rest is a lot easier than I first thought.

But you could also argue that we should really be restricted once passed regardless of age so you can, in theory, build up experience and move up from there. Plenty of people I know closer to and 30+ are just as, if not more silly than a 17 year old on the road.

Another argument could be that being allowed on the road with L plates after a CBT is ridiculous. A 17 year old with a day worth of riding allowed to go on a bike, on his own, that can do 60? I can see CBTs being taken away completely in the not too distant future and future bikers will just need to do all their training with an instructor.

But, then they have to generalise it somehow based on stats I guess, i.e. more deaths at younger ages on the roads etc.

It gets worse :p

I'm thinking this will happen at some point as well. If it does, imagine how many people it would screw over with commuting to work etc.

This has been needed for so long.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
Unless you are insanely rich its nigh on impossible to insure a decent power car (200bhp+) until at least 21.

License changes aren't typically retroactive. They'd likely be given full A licenses with a restriction. Much like the recent trike changes. Loads of my mates now have full A licenses, with the 79(tri) restriction. Same way my Dad can drive a 7.5ton truck, but I'd need to do a test.

21st of April is my next MOD 2 date.

IO think I might have a bit more of a chance of passing as I have done almost 1,500 miles on my YBR thus far, and feel a lot more relaxed and am really enjoying it but crave a bit more power.

Hmm very true, the newer generation would be well screwed after it came into effect. Imagine the insurance fiasco.

Question lads...

My wife has booked her CBT, having only done Get On a few years ago, but upon checking her card license she has dates listed against AM and A.... By comparison, I took DAS about 9 years ago, and mine shows the same!

She's never taken a bike test, so does that mean she's A been gifted DAS by mistake, or B, DVLA have naffed my entitlement up :D

It's just there as a provision until you take a bike test for unrestricted category A. :)

The first date on the license is when she's allowed to ride a bike, the second date will be when she isn't allowed anymore. :)
