How to overclock a 7850 past 1050MHz?

I keep coming back to this question over and over, my 7970 is being RMA'd.

For the price it cost me, I could basically get 2 7850's if I chose a refund instead of a replacement.

Typically (in percentile / benchmarks), how much faster would a CF 7850 setup be compared with a single 7970, both stock and overclocked.

I know this is probably an impossible question to answer, but i'd be interested in everyone's views.

Finally, is 2GB VRAM enough, I play on a 1080p set, but like everything on top settings, would it be future proof enough for say the next 3 years?

2gb is plenty,you only need morre if your using eyefinity,as for 2 7850's vs one 7970 it will be quicker but you might have xfire driver issues/stuttering plus higher temps,better to go for single card 7970,it will be plenty powerfull enough
 
My 7850 does 1100mhz at 1.175v. I think it needs pretty much 1.3v for 1200mhz, not the best overclocker but I'm happy. Memory on the other hand overclocks very well. Gonna post some benchmarks soon. ;)
 
so what u think about my clocks ? it's my first time overlocking GPU
dint have any problem when runnig 3dmark11 or heaven only sometimes when running heaven I get some screen flash not big realy small flash this bad ? should I lower my settings ?

when running heave,3Dmark11 or some games my temperatures dont go over 50
should I keep my settings running 24/7 or only when I need ?

just notice that when I open sensors open in GPU-Z it's only show my default core clock 870 anyone know why it dont so my correct core clock

I know that I asked many questions but I would appreciate very much if I could get a few answers.

Your CPU is bottle necking that 7850. I get a slightly higher score than yours with a non overclocked 7850. :(

I can get a Radeon 7870 for £200, or an MSI Twin Frozr 7860 for £190. I do plan on overclocking, so which one should I go for?

My main concern is the cooler on the 7870 will hinder my OC'ing as it'll be hotter than the 7850 at the same clock speeds?

For a similar price, the 7870 is the best buy. You would need to be really unlucky and get a stinker of a 7870 for it not to outperform a good 7850 (with both overclocked).

Passed Heaven without any problems and tried a few games like MW3, all seems stable :D

Well I've just had the GPU crash while browsing the web :( but it's fine in Heaven/Games.

Think it might be the memory needing reduced slightly.

Edit - Dropped the memory down to 5000 (1250), FPS in Heaven only down by about 0.5 to 52.2 so I'll see how that goes.

Also how would I change the Board Power Li while using GPU Tweak?

I dont understand how overclocking a factory overclocked gpu would work.
 
Hi All

I've used the search function and can't find anything on the forums, so my question is has anyone run into this error when trying to start Asus gpu tweak "fail to load dlls. Please install vga driver."
I've installed the latest drivers for the 7850 on a clean install of windows.

Any help much appreciated

Guys I have no idea how you reach those 60 fps speeds, my PCS+ 7850 is 1200/5200 and has 51.5 FPS Max. Can CPU Affect the sores? I have Phenom2x4 965BE @ 3900 and 4gb RAM.

Also is it safe with those crazy Memory speeds you guys have? Since we cant monitor mem temps.

If they are the same price to with the overclocked version, not sure if i have a better cooler.
