How to overclock a 7850 past 1050MHz?

Yep, but then the sliders for clock and voltage had a little padlock next to them and I couldn't change them. Hovering over the padlock said 'only available for Asus cards' or something to that effect.

Strange, my HIS works fine, and the majority of users on this thread seem to be using it with non Asus cards. I'm at a loss to be honest :(

What's everyone's ASIC Quality reading? You can find this by opening GPU-Z and right clicking on the green icon in the top left corner, next to where it says "TechPowerUP GPU-Z". After right click, select "Read ASIC Quality".

It will be interesting to see whether good clockers have higher numbers and poorer clockers have lower.

Mine is 84.9%

87.2% for me

Well got home from work to find my Msi 7850 frozr III had turned up, Thought it best to do a fresh install of win7. After installing all the mobo drivers etc, I then set about seeing what the Msi is like, At the moment everything is at stock Msi setting and after running heaven bench once I gotta say that I was unimpressed with the temps on this card, I thought it would run cooler than 59c on load...Is it me or is that not a little high for a frozr 3?

My old frozr 2 460 was cooler at load @ 53c...Am I missing something here or are those temps normal for the card? Here are the links to the gpuz screens, Any help would be appreciated...Thanks!

Edit: My ASIC quality is 78.8%......What does this mean??

59degrees is cool. These cards are okay up to 85. ASIC Quality is an "indication" of how good the GPU silicon is. Higher generally equals better, but it is not as simple as that. My 84.9% is lower than many others, but so far nobody can come close to my overclocks. A higher number increases the odds of a good overclock, but it does not guarantee it. Likewise, a low number does not necessarily result in a bad clocker.

Cheers 555BUK, After checking out some reviews it seems my card is just under stock temps by 4-5c, Given that my card has a factory O/C on it makes it about right! That will do for me, Gonna try for a bit of O/cing now that my mind is at rest!! :D:D

looking at those screenshots the fan only reached 40 odd percent and hit 59c,have you tried manually setting fan speed? how loud is it above 50%? try higher and it will improve load temps

Here are my temps after an hour and a bit of playing BF3 on Ultra @ 1920x1200 1350MHz core.

Fan Duty rose to 77% on my custom profile, but that is pretty damn quiet on an Accelero (92mm fans spinning at about 1400rpm). 77% fan is quieter than than my old stock cooler was at idle. Max temps blipped at 54, but generally 53deg full load. When I play with my normal setting of Vsync enabled, temps stick to the high 40's.

At 50% It is quite audible, As it is now is fine I am @ 1000 gpu clock and @ 4900 mem, The temp still only tops out at 59c....Gonna try and get this to 1200 with-out too much of a bump in volts..:)

Wow those temps are insane for that Accelero..That must be the best air cooler you can get for the 7850..@ 1.3V you are still cooler than my msi..!
I think Hex has an Msi too and I am sure his ran at 59c at stock too, Wonder what temps the sapphire and gigabyte get at stock?

I ran furmark for a few minutes and temps hit 60. I did not want to leave it running too long and risk popping my VRM's, but I guess it may have reached mid 60's evenually. By comparisson, my reference Powercolor cooler reach 90 degrees at stock setings running Furmark (although gaming was low to mid 70's in general).

Is a high fan speed bad?

I generally game with headphones, so I can't hear my PC at all. So, is there any real downside of me running at, say, 80% fan speed at almost all times?
