How to overclock a 7850 past 1050MHz?

145C

im presuming thats 45C, would I be right in thinking the gelid fans dont plug directly into the card? What about the AC TT 2?

Errr....yep thats a typo, 45c is what I got under load.:p I think it does have a black pcb if thats important but don't quote me om that, I wasn't paying that much attention to the colour at the time changed the cooler.
Secondly the fans on the Gelid cooler don't plug into the card, just straight into either a mobo header or 4 pin molex, but one of those simple inline resistor cables to drop the voltage to the fans does an amazing job of lowering the fan speed, making them inaudible and they still keep the card at 45c. You also get a bucket load of heatsinks for the Vram chips and voltage regulators and the adhesive thermal pads to apply them which worked very well when I used them.
I can't speak for the AC TT2 as I didn't use one but I can thoroughly recommend the gelid.:)

But the question is is it better than a MSI twin frozr which can also be had for under £200?
The Accelero will EASILY beat the TF cooler. The benefits for the TF is that it is a standard double slot cooler, and you get to keep your warranty. As far as cooling is concerned, the TF cannot come close.

MSI Power Ed of Today Only for £199, bargain :D
Looks like a good deal. Cooler appears the same as the TFIII version, but different colour facia and higher stock clocks. It's a shame that the review sites never overclock 7850's past the CCC 1050MHz limitation, because it would be nice to know whether these go any further that other 7850's.

Yeah it is a shame that most just stick with the ccc limit

The Fans are different on the Power ed. It also has an entirely different PCB and PWM layout.

My power edition MSI arrived today but I have exams today and tomorrow :( I'm itching to have a go at it but I just dont have the time! I dont know if I can wait until Friday evening...

It does look great though, tormenting me with its black and blue cooler. All I can feed back right now is that its fairly short (I make it about 210mm) and it has a dark brown PCB if anyone is interested

That MSI one looks good. I've recently pressed the button on the HIS IceQ one though. I'll probably end up sticking an after market cooler on it anyway though. Probably too much messing about to get it swapped because I've ordered it with a load of other stuff on BNPL. Anyone else got the HIS one and can give me a heads up on the best cooler to get for it?

Hey guys, just want to know if anyone of you guys have encountered any hard-lock up grey screen's of death? Similar to this image:

It is very intermittent. I re installed Catalyst 12.4 to see if it will make a difference. Will try and re produce.

Thats the Good old ATI Grey Screen Of Death! Had it loads on my old 5850 I think I had it once on my asus 7850 but touch wood not since, no idea what caused it as it never happened again after I restarted
