How will Nvidia react to the AMD 6000 series launch?

And if Nvidia had stuck to their usual power budget of 250w where would they have been? :p

You didn't follow the conversation. I was replying to Greebo who made the same comment.

Both companies have had to push the power use up to get any sort of gains at the high end.

Fair enough. I think Nvidia have definitely pushed Ampere as far as it will go tbh. The miniscule gains their AIBs have made shows that.

Will be interesting to see if there is still any headroom in RDNA2 for AMDs partners to make any compelling alternatives to the reference cards.

You also have to factor in how much AMD exaggerated their numbers. It's always never a good as the numbers shown and those that we see given are always manipulated or reached in very specific circumstances in some way regardless if it is Nvidia or AMD

I actually think that this time they are playing it very fair and reasonable...
they gave all the details about test hardware etc...
obviously they chosen most favourable games.. but also games like Farcry (that are now to be very cpu dependant) are there on the charts...
idk .. but I think its real that its actually that good..

AMD and Nvidia have never been straight down with the line with their numbers, people tend to look through rose tinted glasses at AMD because we notice how Intel and Nvidia have behaved because they have had by far the largest market share and tend to give AMD the benefit of the doubt even though they do similar misleading things.

great, then forget about the numbers. wait 3 weeks for the actual reviews. who cares.

Got to be joking, they need to show stock for stock, no RAGE mode, no SAM boost from the Zen 3 CPUs.

Fair enough, they said they were using the RAGE and SAM on the slides, but if Nvidia did something like that, there would be hell on on here. :p

Moore's law is starting to fail now. All our current expectations about how graphics gains will happen from one generation to the next are going to have to be revised pretty rapidly, and as seen by peoples reaction to this in other threads, not everyone is going to deal with this very well.

but .. they are telling you that all of these are on.. they are not claiming its stock perfformance..
btw .. there were some numbers without any boosters

LOL this is funny because it's true.

I want to see how AMD's figures hold up in the real world when they have been properly reviewed. That's the first thing.

Then, yeah, seeing what the AIBs can get out of them will also be interesting!! If they don't have decent headroom, I will be disappointed. I mean they have smaller dies, less transistors and a way more efficient process.

interestingly if I look at forza horizon 4 the 6900xt has 152fps with RAGE and SAM on compared to 138 on the 6800xt with everything off. The 6900xt's pricing doesn't really make sense - you're looking at single digit performance advantage over the 6800xt with no other redeeming features like extra vram or prosumer drivers

So, the same as the 3090 compared to the 3080 is what you're saying?

Just not over double the price :P

the 3090 pricing is also ridiculous but it is more prosumer friendly with very fast high capacity vram that helps content creators - so it supports things like 4k and 8k video editing that are basically impossible on the 3080. The 6900xt doesn't do anything that the 6800xt can't and so it's xtra price is just about those single digit gains
