How would you spend 100k on modding/improving your current car?

R35 GTR

Switzer 1500hp+ starts at $140k.
AMS Omega (7.7s 1/4 mile) is around $200k.

So there's the £100k easily gone :p

But for UK tuners it'd probably be

Forged 4L Engine - £12-15k
Turbos - £10k
Brakes (Alcon Superkit) - £10k
Suspension - £10k
Wheels (Volk G2) - £5k
102mm Exhaust - £2.5k

Then there's clutch and transmission upgrades needed to for the big power that I have never looked into cost but I'm sure they're well over £10-15k.

If I had to spend it on what I currently own (Escort Estate)

Escort Cosworth engine + running gear.
Forged bottom end and billet crank.
gt35r or similar turbo, ecu etc
Big brake kit
Suspension

Would make one hell of a sleeper

100k on my astra van? hmmmm

convert it to rwd massive rear tyres 300+ and drop lambo v10 in there some how and twin turbo it us the bonnet for my tools :D

Mk1 MX5:
Full strip down nut and bolt restoration.
Custom leather interior
Custom dash and centre console with a retro look
AC retrofit
Mohair roof
Custom finished hardtop
Best suspension available for comfort without sacrificing handling
Respray in the original British Racing Green
Watanabe alloys
Engine blueprinted with some Mazda Speed bits thrown in

Grande Punto:
Basically turn it into an Abarth Esse Esse and then have it remapped.

No idea on costs but safe to say I'd have change left over.

Honda CRV

Full custom interior retrim
Body work fully refurbished
Nice sound system, and extra sound deadening
A small supercharger, just to give it a little more go

Mondeo mk3 2.0

Again, full custom interior retrim
High quality audio system
Convert to RWD
Fit a nice big V8, and automatic transmission
Keep the steel wheels, would love it to be a sleeper :)

I wouldn't get anywhere near 100,000 in terms of spending.

But I'd pretty much be looking at

Bigger Injectors
Forged internals
Cams
Full exhaust system and manifold
Bigger turbo (something mental)
Bigger front mounted intercooler
Gripper diff
8 pot brakes
Full adjustable suspension
Uprated clutch
Remap (obviously)

Interior would pretty much stay the same with the standard recaros etc as I've had a car where I stripped it before and it was horrendous as a road car.

I haven't named specific parts i.e whether a turbo would be Garrett for example as with 100,000 I could pretty much buy top end parts, i.e now when it comes to 8-pot brakes I'd end up having to buy k-sports :D: with 100,000 there'd be no chance I'd look at them

I would also not let REGAL touch my car ever again, infact I'd pay 100,000 never to let Chris and his team near it.

I would spend most of the money on a large canon so I can blast my sodding Octavia into space and the spend the change on a Volvo. A nice square one.

Actually I like the idea of getting a series 3 Jag XJ12 and then getting Knowles-Wilkins to sort it out properly.

2005 Subaru Impreza STi
Engine:
fully forged 2.35 engine
SC46 billet turbo
JDM AVCS heads
All the assorted supporting engine stuff for that, injectors, fmic etc etc
15-20K

Chassis:
Ditch my BC coilovers and get something posh like Ohlins
Most of the whiteline catalogue, ARB, adjustable arms, camber kits etc
5K

Brakes:
Porsche 6 pot brakes, probably not the best out there but they look amazing.
2k

Other stuff:
Better stereo to get rid of the tape deck..
Proper racing seats with harnesses
Roll cage
8k

So lets say between £35-40k on that. Can't really think of much else i'd want to do to it other than book a ton of track days and maybe buy a bowser full of vpower

2002 Toyota Yaris D4D

Full engine rebuild as it sounds like it's on it's last legs currently..
Bigger turbo off a 2.0 D4D
custom top mount intercooler
full stand alone management

Some kind of 4 pot AP racing brakes for the lulz
whatever the fanciest suspension i can buy is.. probably talk directly to someone like Ohlins just to use some of my budget up.
some proper pimp JDM alloys
lots of expensive JDM stickers to sticker bomb one of the front wings
Nice comfy recaros
dynamat the entire car
decent audio install
retrofit aircon

lets say i'd spend £20k

1998 Mini
Either hand it over to one of the many mini restoration specialists and make it tip top with some subtle upgrades like 4 pot brakes and the 90bhp upgrade for the MPI engine and some more sorted suspension. OR just go mental and put a 1.8 B series Honda engine in it and die screaming and laughing in equal measure as i put it in the first ditch i see when i hit VTEC.

£whatvers left

That's ludicrous money for the cars I have so most of the money would be wasted. None of this is justifiable, however it's fun to dream....

The daily is nice but pretty dull (Volvo XC70) so no point spending much on that, given that there's money to burn I'd probably spend a couple of k tidying up a few blemishes and making it perfect (Replace a couple of scuffed bits of trim, add factory ipod connectivity option, add a couple of optional accessories etc. Maybe a Polestar remap for the sake of it.)

The bulk of the money would be spent on the racecar (mk1 MR2 competing in the Toyota Sprint Series). I've no solid idea how most of this would stack up in terms of cost as I like to do as much as I can myself but I'd probably struggle to go over budget....

Strip car down to a bare shell, chemical dip to strip it back to the metal so I can see what I'm working with.
Cut out and replace any signs of rust to the highest standard I can to give me the best base shell possible.
Prepare engine mounts for a 2GR-FE conversion, finish rollcage installation
Remove weight from the shell as much as possible within the limitations of safety and the series regulations.
Carry out a few tweaks to move suspension mounts around (primarily moving mounting points upwards within the shell to effectively lower the car without screwing the geometry.
Wide arch conversion, at the rear this would mean moving the entire rear quarter panel and tailights outwards by a couple of inches, with a side effect of creating vents into the engine bay at the leading edge behind the door
Develop a full underbody aero package (splitter, flat floor, diffuser) diffuser is tricky on something like an MR2 as for it to work properly you need to seal off the underside of the engine bay which is normally the source of air for cooling the bay. This is where the vents created by the wide arch conversion fit in...
Basic respray just to protect everything.
Fit a supercharged 2GR as used in the Exige/Evora but with a few choice mods suited to its application as a race engine rather than road
Rebuild the rest of the car where every component is considered on a basis of a) do I need to fit it? b) If so can I fit a lighter weight alternative
Stick it on the widest, lowest overall diameter wheels/tyres I can get away with

Once it's built and had a good shake down and all the bugs ironed out, things swapped about and changed etc. strip it back to a bare shell again paint it properly so it looks the part and final reassemble.

MX5:

Bucket Seats
New Wheels
Turbo and sundries for the engine
Ohlins
New Clutch
Complete strip down, clean, weathershield etc
Respray.

Probably do all that for £10k, the other £90k would be spent tyres and petrol :p

Same car (swift sport)

I'd add forced induction, likely a turbo. Shooting for 200bhp. (Few have been done) That would eat about £5k

Upgraded brakes £2k?
New lighter wheels and better rubber £1.5k?
Coilovers £500
The rest would have course go on fixing all the interior rattles!

my sensible instead of monster truck would be:

engine swap from an Evo then add tuning + uprated parts
and new everything that connects to it
4x4 swift
coilovers
all TM square parts from japan
respray of whole car
carbon everything
short shift box
some form of bucket seat with custom upholstery
fat light wheels and some awesome rubber
add even more lightness
buy some ear protectors + radio to talk to passenger
save the rest for speeding tickets

then you don't need to worry about the rattles as it will be too noisy anyway.

Out of interest what mx-5 do you have? mk1?

I've had a mk1 and a mk2.5 absolutely love the mx-5s. Especially turbo'd.

I know people say they're hairdresser cars and take the pee but most of them have never driven one.
