I think if King William doesn't become the head of the Church of England then I'll change my vote and say it's time the Monarchy disappeared.

It is rumour at the moment. Though we had a clue years ago when Prince Harry was being interviewed about why he wanted to split away from the Monarchy. He said William and Charlies both feel the same as him. But felt obligated to stay in their roles.

I’d like to see an exact figure of what they bring in to the country compared to what it really costs to keep them.

I‘d happily vote on a middle ground, leave them no more than three homes around the country, even two with one being Buckingham Palace.

Not a single penny going outside of Charles and William

Probably make them have to abdicate once they hit 70

Let‘s be honest, we’re all wanting William to be king over Charles and being sworn in whilst still grieving a parent seems a bit weird

they should be obligated they are supposed to be "working Royals" ?

they can pick and choose their duty now only attending the fun events etc?

time to get rid, want all the status but none of the work involved.
Must be a terribly hard life

I'm ambivalent on the Monarchy itself, but I would have all their estates turned over to a public trust.

In fact that's more a general thing I'd do, start taking our outdoor spaces out of private hands into ownership of the state. Particularly Scotland and all the swathes of countryside that are denuded so rich pillocks can jerk off while shooting birds.

Except in Scotland you have a true right to roam on these lands. This was from earlier but it gives you an idea

Subsequent court cases(Gloag) got some land excluded claiming it was a 'private garden'

The late queen let people walk in Balmoral.

You have a right to roam, but none of it is natural, it's all denuded ecologically so that posh ***** can shoot deer and grouse.

Some of is, depends on the owner, but changing the landscape(managing) has been happening everywhere. All National parks anywhere in the world are managed. The so-called rewilding is nothing more than changing the landscape to suit your current ideas.

Why do you think that?
I'm of the old Christian position that the British Monarch is like our Pope. Because he's not leading us in to battles anymore then he can only lead us religiously.

Otherwise he has no moral authority over anyone. He'd be abandoning the last moral leadership duty in my opinion.

If William drops the role then I think it would be a good time to change the national anthem.

Fair enough. I'm of the view that the Monarch's role as head of the Anglican Church is even more anachronistic than the monarchy itself and increasingly out of kilter with a country that is now minority Christian (46.2% in England/Wales), and only about 1 in 5 of those identify as Anglican. I don't see the Church as having any moral authority, either, their record on too many issues is poor.

If William drops the role then I think it would be a good time to change the national anthem.

Can we have something that is less of a dirge?

I'd like an English national anthem. I'm sure it annoys the other home counties that we sing the British anthem as it feels like it's from a past era of England ruling over the other countries.

I'd like the UK to move to a federal system, similarly to Germany.

I've always found this a very emotional and stirring song. I would love it as England's national anthem.

Sell of the monarchy to the Arabs including all the "priceless" jewels and pay off the past 14 years of Tory scums mess.

Can we not just add them all to a Thunderdome and the winner becomes King/Queen and has to pick a peasant to mate with? No royal backlogs, only the strongest survive, we get a new diana every time and we all get a thunderdome murdering spree of the previous family when the Dad kicks it.

Not really sure what point you're trying to make?

If it's that our outdoor spaces should be managed with goals that first and foremost do not revolve around providing animals for posh ***** to shoot for fun, then I completely agree.
