Does the SSD improve the battery life a bit?
It will a bit. I'm on the fence with either a DM1 or Acer TimelineX 4830T, the latter having longer battery life, 14" screen, optical drive, and more powerful overall. But it's £120 more expensive

I have the same dillema, on one hand I could do with something a little more powerful but on the other it's the price that's encouraging me to get the DM1.
Can anyone find one below £300 now ?

Nope, apparently someone on HUKD called HP Store and asked if they'd still do the 299SAVE30 offer and he got £30 off. Worth a try they can only say no.
I have to wonder when Overclockers will be stocking the HP DM1 laptop, or indeed any other HP laptop in order for any aforementioned companies to be competitors in the sense of the context of this thread.
Memory, maximumUpgradeable to 4 GB DDR3
Was going to get an x121e, but got a new phone on the way and got a free Dm1 with the contract. Will most SSD's fit in it? Anyone had experience with this? Also, I have windows 7 on my pc so have the install discs- the DM1 comes with 32bit OS, can you do a fresh install of 64bit Windows 7, assuming it comes with a serial key that is? If so, is there a way of using a PC DVD drive to avoid having to by an external DVD drive? lots of questions- cheers for any advice in advance
